The pros: Â You should get about 9 servings in this container. That makes Trader Joe's Sipping Chocolate an affordable chocolate drink. A surprising amount of fiber per serving. Even though sugar is the first ingredient, it didn't taste tooth achingly sweet.
The cons: Â Slight chalky taste, not the same quality chocolate as a Godiva or other higher end retailer. Chocolate didn't dissolve as nicely as I would have liked. Will need some adjustment based on your taste.
The verdict: Â For $3.99 this is a pretty intense hot chocolate mix compared to most grocery store brands, however, it will not compete with high end chocolate retailers. Prepared as sipping chocolate it was pretty close to drinking something that tasted like either a melted chocolate bar or Hershey's chocolate syrup. I found it a bit too rich for my liking, but I'm sure someone might disagree with me there. I then added a few more ounces of milk to turn it into a hot chocolate. I personally enjoyed this more as a hot chocolate than as a sipping chocolate. It was good but I have other brands that I would reach for first before this.

Would I buy this again? Trader Joe's Sipping Chocolate was ok as a sipping chocolate. I had never had sipping chocolate previously and found it too rich for my liking. I think that's more a matter of preference than a criticism of the product. I preferred the taste of the hot chocolate to the sipping chocolate. For the price it's a good buy, but I'll still reach for other brands first. It's worth a try if you are used to Swiss Miss.
