I have heard of Aebelskivers, but not of Poffertjes. Yes, there are subtle differences and best of all you don't need any special equipment to enjoy this box. Best of all this is priced at $2.99.
The taste
I enjoy Trader Joe’s silver dollar pancakes. But maple-flavored pancakes? How bad could that be?
Well, the more of these I had the more I enjoyed them.
If you can imagine the flavor of a pancake, that also reminded me slightly of a funnel cake then that is what you are getting here. Add in a nice maple flavor and you might find yourself eating these as easily as potato chips.
These were tender and spongey like a pancake but had a more rounded shape.
If you’ve ever had Aebleskivers then these are pretty similar.
But since the ingredient list isn't too specific with what type of flour is used here, traditional Poffertjes are usually made with buckwheat flour. Also, Poffertjes are traditionally a yeasted treat whereas this uses something other than yeast. I've never had traditional Poffertjes so it is hard to compare.
But despite those differences, the taste here is pretty solid
I opted to make them in the oven, but they would probably be fine in the microwave as well. I'm not sure why it says don't reheat. I tried to reheat these (just not as long the second time around) and they were fine. We all survived to tell the tale.
Pancakes are pretty familiar, but these were just different enough to be both a standout and enjoyable.
Serving ideas
These would best be served plain, with a pat of butter, with some powdered sugar, or some extra maple syrup. Even whipped cream or berries would compliment this.
The packaging
These come in a nonresealable bag in the box. It isn’t a deal-breaker that it can’t be resealed. It can be easily folded to keep the freezer burn away. But realistically once you open this bag you'll probably polish it off in no time.
Overall
I really liked these and so did my son CJ. So this was a hit in our household. The bad news on this is that it is a seasonal item so I guess we will have to buy a few more in hopes we will see this again.
My 17-month son almost bit my finger testing these. He was happy to go back for seconds. His honest review of them consisted of the word "mmmmmmm." I'm sure his future reviews will be a bit longer.
Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Maple-flavored Poffertjes Mini Pancake Puffs again.

I need to try these. I would pop in the air fryer to get the crisp element.
Glad CJ liked these.

I just had this recently. Air frying is the best way to go! It gets all crispy and so yummy. I mixed some maple syrup with vanilla bean paste. HEAVEN!
