The pros: Trader Joe's Stir Fry Vegetables is a nice sized and easy to prepare stir fry mix.

The cons:  The balance of the veggies could have been better. Mine seemed to be mostly pea pods.

The verdict:  Up until recently, I used to buy my stir fry mix from either BJs or Costco. However, I kept finding that there was one truth about those bags: they were just too big for my household of two. Unless I was going to have stir fry every night, I would use about half the bag before freezer burn would set in. Once freezer burn sets in, it usually ends up as waste.

So, it's the beginning on 2018 and some of us will be focusing this year (or realistically this month) to eating just a bit healthier. Now, that sounded pretty negative. However, according to the Huffington Post only 8% of people actually end up keeping their resolutions. With numbers like that, it's any wonder why people make resolutions at all. Perhaps we have goals. I've heard people say that you overestimate when you can do in a day, but underestimate what you can do in a year.

So yes, count me in on the eating healthier more of the time crowd. Regardless if you are looking to eat healthier or just want a reliable mix of veggies. In terms of mix of veggies this is mostly pea pods (which weren't my favorite), but they do cook up crisp. Bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, soybeans, and carrots are there, but don't make up the volume of this bag. Water chestnuts and mushrooms are present, but only a few were found in the bags I have purchased.

Yes, stir frying this is the way to go, but in a pinch microwaving will still yield good results. The directions were on point for both the microwave and actually stir frying this. This also plays well with sauce. I made Mongolian beef the other night and the veggies went well with the sauce.

For $2.69 this is a decently priced mix. While not the same value as the bag I used to buy at Costco, it is a reasonably sized and priced mix. A reliable option but you better like pea pods quite a bit to enjoy this.

Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Stir Fry Vegetables again. This was actually my second or third repurchase. I'll still need to make a trip or two to my local H-Mart to add a few more veggies to this, but it is a good base and makes for easy veggies.

Those look good - actually I LOVE the pea pods! Can add homegrown mung bean sprouts, too.

PS: Why does it usually take me two or three tries at the code to get it right. Even if I've double/triple checked, it always tells me to do it over at least once with each comment.

Unfortunately, Trader Joe's has discontinued this excellent vegetable mix. For me it's the best because it doesn't have broccoli in it, which I'm allergic to.

Hey Deb! I just wanted to let you know they haven't discontinued this product. They've changed the package. Look for a blue bag instead of what's pictured here. I'll have to update this review. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I hope that helps!

Thanks, Betty. I was told by Trader Joe's employees that it's discontinued - maybe they were confused because of the packaging change? I'll keep an eye out for your pictures for reference.

I hope not either. If anything Costco sells good stir fry veggies.
