These are the summer seasonal variety of the popular These sprinkles walk into a sandwich cookies. So in Trader Joe's new food news, this is a new and limited-run product.
The taste
While the cookies might remind you more of chocolate chip cookies, these butter cookies have bits of freeze-dried strawberries in them which gives them that strawberry shortcake feel.
The cookie is quite crumbly so you'll want to make sure you have a plate to catch the crumbs.
Each cookie is flaky and butter with a hint of strawberry. The strawberry filling is about as generous as a regular oreo. Not a double stuff one either. But the flavor of the buttercream is pretty good.
It does taste like strawberries. And overall this does remind me of the strawberry shortcake minus a dollop of cream and fresh strawberries. It had a nice biscuit-like cookie and a good strawberry flavor.
The packaging
This is packaged in a narrow box. A foil wrapping covers the box. The tray of cookies that are two sandwiches cookies wide.
In each box, there are three rows of cookies for a total of six cookies altogether.
The outside design of the package looks a lot like Trader Joe's seasonal Sprinkles Walk into a sandwich cookie. You can see the packing here:
Overall
Overall, this box will cost you $2.99 and you get six sandwich cookies altogether. Not a bad deal. This is on par with the quality of the seasonal sprinkle sandwich cookies that are offered. It has a good strawberry flavor in both the middle and the cookie.
Would I buy this again? While I think Trader Joe's Strawberry Shortcake Sandwich Cookies is good it isn't worth a repurchase for me.
