The pros:  If you find salad to be boring or just love iceberg lettuce, Trader Joe's Butter Lettuce is a good product to pick up.

The cons:  Not as nutrient dense as some other salads in a bag, but if you need to break up your routine, this is a good one to reach for.

The verdict:  For $2.49 for 7 ounces, this makes a regular appearance in my grocery cart. While this is more expensive than a whole head of lettuce, all the work has been done for you. In last years Trader Joe's survey of the best of the best, this actually made the list.

It's crisp and tasty. Best of all, it's a stepping stone between the dark greens and iceberg lettuce. It's sure to make most people happy in a salad. Trader Joe's Butter Lettuce has great texture and is not as watery as iceberg lettuce.

It keeps crisp in the bag, but always make sure there is no moisture in the bag before bringing it home. That will ensure that your lettuce stays as fresh as can be. I buy this often and if you haven't tried it yet, you should.

In a salad:

Trader Joe's Butter Lettuce is what I used to make a salad with Trader Joe's Cilantro dressing.

Would I buy this again?  Yup. This makes my weekly shopping list. Obviously, depending on turnover and your local Trader Joe's, make sure this is fresh and moisture free before leaving the store with it.

Hey Wendy! I found these have a short shelf life because they are cut up. I think a week at most. I hope that helps!

Totally a staple for me too.

I stick a paper towel in as a liner after I open the bag.
