The pros:Â Trader Joe's 5 Cheese Greek Spiral is crispy and cheesy.
The cons: If there were 5 cheeses in this, then they became indistinguishable once they were baked together.
The verdict: Â A few years ago, I remember reading a fun news article about cheese being as addicting as drugs. Seriously. Drugs. And I was like, "Tell me something I did not already know." I mean it makes so much sense. I've been known to tell people that "You aren't pizza. You can't make everyone happy."
And now we know why pizza makes everyone happy. There is something about the melty combination of flavors that is so addicting. In fact, when I met my now husband, we enjoyed a few beers and mozzarella sticks (along with some wings) together. Perhaps the melted cheese explains why we got along so well.
Fast forward six years, a wedding, and a weekly grocery trip to Trader Joe's and I finally got around to trying this 5 Cheese Greek Spiral. It reminded me of a big, fat Greek mozzarella stick.
Once sliced, the rings become their own sticks of melted cheese. This only needs to go into the oven for 25-30 minutes. The fat in the dough and cheese essentially brown this cheesy circle.
What you are left with is cheesy bites of melty goodness surrounded by flaky layers of filo dough. While a mozzarella stick plays well with marinara. This would pair well with honey.
If I had to complain about a single item, it would be the fact that there are 5 indistinguishable cheese here. I can't say that I could distinguish one from the other. Needless to say, it was still a good blend.
Overall, for $3.99 this is reasonably priced for four generous servings, it was all the joyous aspects of cheese: melty and feel good. Even though I couldn't taste the differences in the cheese, it just did not matter. Worth trying if you haven't done so already. It won't make the weekly list, but is pretty good as an occasional treat or date night in.

I have walked by this product dozens of times. I've have always been so afraid to buy it because I would want to eat the whole thing in one or two sittings. My name is Dagmar & I am a certified cheese-a-holic. I had thoughts of slicing it in half and making a turkey or smoked ham cheesy goodness sandwich-lol.
