Trader Joe's Edamame Hummus review

The pros: Trader Joe's Edamame Hummus is a very different hummus from the rest of the options on the shelf. In fact, the first ingredient here is edamame.

The cons: It doesn't taste like much. It's creamy, but you may find yourself needing to add things to make it more interesting.

The verdict:  Trader Joe's Edamame Hummus review

I love a good hummus and I'll give Trader Joe's credit where credit is due: their stuff is cheap compared to going to the regular grocery store.

I grabbed this one because visually it stood out the most. Because it is green.

Now, edamame doesn't have a ton of flavor on its own. Perhaps it would lend a crunchy flavor here. It's didn't.

It actually added a creamy texture to this hummus which was completely unexpected.

So its green, creamy, but what else stands out about it?

Well, for me that was about it. Yes, there is garlic and onion powder added here. Yes, there is a touch of lemon juice. But there wasn't enough of it.

If you like very bland hummus or hummus you will need to add something to it to make it more flavorful.

This hummus most likely has its fans. There was nothing not to like about it. It was creamy in texture, but did not standout tremendously in the flavor department. For me, I'd still reach for the regular chickpea based hummus over this.

For $2.49 it is inexpensive, worthy of a try once, but may need some additions to really bring this item forward in the flavor department.

Here is the visual run down of what you get if you buy this product:

Would I buy this again? No, I would not buy Trader Joe's Edamame Hummus again. It was far too bland for my liking.

I actually love this stuff! I was really tired of regular hummus and i buy this regularly- i use it as a spread on sandwiches, or add to a salad bowl, or as a dip for radishes and bell peppers. An extra squeeze of lemon juice is nice added to it

I can see why you like it then! I was doing my usual veggie and hummus snack and while it wasn't bad it was just a bit more creamy tasting than expected. But yes, I can see how you are using it and why you enjoy it. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and share!
