One of my long standing complaints about new products at Trader Joe’s is that they tend to be carb heavy. But there is a substantial enough audience for good tasting low carb alternatives that have been all but ignore up until recently.

Trader Joe's blog and cooking.
The average Trader Joe's store stocks a few thousand products, most of which bear its name. But quality can vary in the refrigerated section, fortunately, that's why you have this site!
From Beef Bool Kogi to the Bean and Jack Cheese Burrito find hundreds of reviews of Trader Joe's products and see which ones are worth your time and which ones you may want to consider leaving on the shelf!

So in addition to the usual fall flavors of maple and pumpkin, we now have 2 cacio e pepe varieties on shelves: the frozen spaghetti and now this refrigerated ravioli.

So every now and again I like to pick up an item that seemingly no one is talking about. This is a product I had to do a bit more research into to see if there is a bit of a difference. From everything I’ve put together, most commercial chicken are raised quite quickly. Heirloom on the other hand supposedly taste more like the way chicken did a long time ago (before even I was born in the 1980s). They are smaller and have spent their lives in a pasture.

If 2020 had a product of the year, then it would have to be toilet paper. I’m not sure why that has become a hot product. I’m also sure a lot of other people are just as bewildered about that as I am. Honestly, the product of the year probably should be hand soap. However, if I were to pick a product that really represented the year then it would be lemonade.

So on my most recent trip, I found this bag of newly marinated meat. And I have to be honest, I really like the Chicken Shawarma. It has such a nice blend of flavor it seems to be pretty consistent in terms of quality. So my hope is that these would be just as just albeit spicy chicken thighs as well.

It’s been a while since Trader Joe’s has added anything new to the pre-marinated meat selection. But when they do it can be quite hit or miss. Since most Trader Joe’s customers do make meals in a hurry (from time to time at least) then it is only fair that they finally add a stir fry into the mix.

I love a no-effort breakfast. In the mornings I will always choose snooze over pretty much any morning activity that requires any form of effort. My Keurig has a timer so it is warmed up when I am up, I’ll shower the night before, I make my lunch the night before, and I will literally do anything to get as much sleep as I can before the morning eventuality sets in. I am sure that I am not alone on this one either.

For the most part, when I want Ranch dressing or dip, I make it at home. I found a mix I really love and it only takes 2 ingredients to whip up a dip that tastes better than store bought. It doesn’t last as long as store bought, but then I make enough that I would consume. But usually those two ingredients are often: mayo and buttermilk. Neither are vegan friendly items. However, when I saw people raving about Trader Joe’s Vegan Ranch Dip I was curious as to how good it could be.

Ever have a food combination that is so wrong it is almost right? Or so wrong, you should never have tried it in the first place but curiosity got the better of you. Well, this isn’t the first time I’ve see the combination of chocolate and hummus together. But since this is the only one I’ve purchased, then Trader Joe’s Chocolate Hummus will have to set the bar.

I keep a blender solely for the purpose of making smoothies. Oh and wine slushies. My blender comes out at least once a week. And while I can make a good smoothie, I’ll buy smoothies from time to time to see if they make one better. So this time I picked up Trader Joe’s Banana and Almond Butter Protein Smoothie to see if they can outdo me.

By the end of 2019, I’ll do another best of list. This year has been full of hits and misses and a heck of a lot of just ok products. Now, to be fair we haven’t even hit the Fall/Winter season when they hit us with the best of the best items. But in the meanwhile, you better believe that Trader Joe’s Pimento Cheese Dip will make the list of best of.

Every now and again, I get excited to try something WITHOUT sugar in it. I mean I like to try more than chips, ice cream, and snacks. So you better believe that I was excited to pick up Trader Joe’s No Sugar Dry Rubbed Uncured Bacon. I mean it screams “NO SUGAR.” Words I’ve waited awhile to hear because even I believe that the low carb diets have been largely ignored by Trader Joe’s.

Vacationing in our household is really just about eating in a different city. And drinking for that matter. We pretty much go to different places and just bring back food. When we visited Watkins Glen, NY and Mystic, Connecticut we saw some sights, but the highlights of our visit were to fun little shops. In both of those towns we found our way to fun shops that only sold Olive Oil and Vinegar. None of it was technically drinking vinegar.

If you buy fresh pasta from Trader Joe’s, you might have noticed they’ve updated the packaging on most of the ravioli products. They are now brightly colored. This means one of two things: either they’ve changed the product or they’ve only just updated the packaging.
In this case they’ve altered the name from previous years. They’ve dropped the name “Girasoli” and added the word ravioli. But overall, the taste seems pretty spot on from previous years. …

If Cookie Butter had its year, and cauliflower had most of 2018, then why hasn’t Trader Joe’s taken the plunge and tried to make more Everything But the Bagel Products? Perhaps, 2019 will be the year they make that commitment. But for now, we have the second of such products with Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoned Smoked Salmon.

So, let’s have a moment of honesty. I’m not sure about you, but I strongly prefer to brew my own brew. My coffee of last resort is usually something that comes from instant or comes out of a can. I like my coffee on the lighter side, so a latte isn’t too far away from how I would enjoy a drink. So, being that these two items are so similar, here is a two for one review of Trader Joe’s Cold Brew Coconut Cream Latte.

It’s been a while since Trader Joe’s added anything to the dips and hummus options. They’ve taken away items, but not too much has been added back. Well, consider this a vegetarian (at least based on the ingredients) spin on the familiar 7 layer dip. Trader Joe’s 5 Layer Dip is new, delicious, and just needs something to dip it in or scoop it on.

Now, in case you didn’t know April 15th is not only Tax Day, but it is also National Glazed Spiral Ham Day. I’m not kidding either, there is a website to keep track of these things. So in honor of such, tonight’s review is on the seasonal Trader Joe’s Maple Bourbon Glazed Ham. I figured it’s close enough and it’s back on shelves.

A little while back I reviewed a fun item that wasn’t too dissimilar to this Hibiscus Tea and Lemonade. It was Trader Joe’s Organic Tea and Lemonade. Essentially, what that drink was is more commonly known as an “Arnold Palmer.” Trader Joe’s Organic Cold Brewed Hibiscus Tea and Lemonade is a playful spin in a substantially smaller bottle.

Well, if the Soba Noodles knocked it out of the park, then I will be giving these the bench. Now, in previous reviews I’ve liked Gochujang flavors when they have tried to incorporated them. But here in Trader Joe’s Gochujang Chop Salad Kit, they just didn’t work for me. Not. One. Bit.
