Trader Joe's has officially reached the point in fall where apparently we aren't just eating dessert.
We're moisturizing with it too.
Trader Joe's Caramel Creme Scented Body Butter is a seasonal beauty find priced at $6.99 for an 8-ounce container. It combines a sweet caramel and vanilla fragrance with a subtle golden shimmer and a body butter formula that is noticeably lighter than some of Trader Joe's other seasonal offerings.
If your dream is to smell like someone just walked into a caramel shop carrying a vanilla cupcake, you might absolutely love this.
Me? Not my favorite scent, but you might like it more.

Let's get the most important thing out of the way.
This is scented. Very scented.
Trader Joe's isn't giving you a whisper of caramel that disappears five minutes after application. The caramel and vanilla fragrance sticks around.
That's going to be either one of the biggest pros or biggest cons depending entirely on how you feel about sweet gourmand fragrances.
Personally, I found it a little overwhelming.
The caramel and vanilla combination is very sweet, and because the fragrance has some staying power, I became increasingly aware of it after applying the body butter.
But fragrance is incredibly personal.
Someone who loves rich caramel, vanilla, and dessert-inspired scents might have exactly the opposite reaction.
So I'm not going to call the scent bad.
I'm going to call it committed.
What Does Trader Joe's Caramel Creme Body Butter Smell Like?
The fragrance leans heavily into sweet caramel and vanilla.
This isn't fresh vanilla bean or subtle warm sugar.
Think dessert.
There's a richness to the caramel scent that makes the whole thing smell especially sweet.
If you gravitate toward gourmand fragrances, particularly caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, and bakery-inspired scents, this could be right up your alley.
If you prefer fresh, citrusy, floral, clean, or barely scented body products?
Approach accordingly.
Because once this is on your skin, you're going to know it's there.
And so might everyone sitting next to you.
The Texture Is Different From Other Trader Joe's Body Butters
Despite being labeled a body butter, I found this formula noticeably less thick than some of Trader Joe's other body butters.
That's not necessarily a negative.
It spreads easily and doesn't require much effort to work into the skin.
But if you're buying this specifically because you want that dense, ultra-rich body butter texture, this probably isn't the Trader Joe's option I'd recommend first.
For that, I'd reach for the seasonal Pumpkin Body Butter.
The Pumpkin Body Butter feels substantially thicker and more like what I traditionally expect when I hear the words "body butter."
The Caramel Creme version feels lighter by comparison.
So while they're both seasonal body products, they're not interchangeable.
Trader Joe's snuck another feature into this one.
Golden shimmer.
Fortunately, we're not talking middle-school-dance glitter.
The shimmer is subtle.
It leaves behind a very fine golden glow rather than obvious chunks of sparkle all over your skin.
If you've tried Trader Joe's seasonal Candy Cane Body Butter, the idea will feel familiar since that product also incorporates shimmer.
Here, though, the golden tone makes sense with the warm caramel theme.
I actually think Trader Joe's got the level of shimmer right.
It's noticeable enough to add something to the product without making you look like you lost a fight with a craft store.
What's in Trader Joe's Caramel Creme Body Butter?
There are a few ingredients worth highlighting in the formula.
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is a familiar ingredient in moisturizing body products and helps contribute to the emollient feel.
Tucuma Seed Butter
Tucuma seed butter helps give the formula some of the richness you'd expect from a body butter.
Interestingly, even with a butter in the formula, the finished product still feels lighter than some of Trader Joe's thicker body butters.
Tonka Bean Extract
Tonka bean fits naturally into the overall fragrance profile here.
Tonka is commonly associated with warm, sweet fragrance characteristics that can complement vanilla and caramel beautifully.
And "warm and sweet" is definitely the assignment here.
How Does It Feel on the Skin?
The lighter consistency makes this easy to spread.
That's actually one advantage over an extremely thick body butter. You don't need to spend forever rubbing it into your skin.
For me, the biggest thing I noticed after application wasn't the texture.
It was the fragrance.
Again, this scent lingers.
If you're buying a scented body butter because you want the fragrance to disappear shortly after moisturizing, this probably isn't the product for you.
If you want your moisturizer to essentially pull double duty as a lightly fragranced body product, you'll probably appreciate the longevity much more than I did.
How Does It Compare to Trader Joe's Other Body Butters?
Trader Joe's has released enough body butters at this point that I think it's useful to compare them based on what you're actually looking for.
Caramel Creme Body Butter: Choose this if you want a sweet caramel and vanilla fragrance, lighter body butter texture, and subtle golden shimmer.
Pumpkin Body Butter: This would be my choice if your priority is a thicker, richer body butter consistency.
Candy Cane Body Butter: Another seasonal option with shimmer, but obviously with a completely different fragrance profile.
That's part of what makes Trader Joe's seasonal beauty section fun.
These products aren't necessarily just the same formula wearing different fragrances.
There can be noticeable differences in texture and finish too.
Who Is This Best For?
This one's easy.
Gourmand fragrance lovers.
If your fragrance collection contains lots of vanilla, caramel, sugar, bakery, or dessert-inspired scents, Trader Joe's Caramel Creme Body Butter deserves a sniff.
You might love it considerably more than I did.
It could also work nicely before a night out when you want some subtle golden shimmer on your arms, shoulders, or legs.
But if strong sweet scents give you a headache or you simply don't want to smell like dessert?
I'd skip it.
There are plenty of other Trader Joe's body products that don't announce themselves quite so enthusiastically.

Final Thoughts
Trader Joe's Caramel Creme Scented Body Butter is going to be one of those products where your nose makes the final decision.
The formula is lighter than some of Trader Joe's other body butters, it spreads easily, and the subtle golden shimmer is surprisingly tasteful.
The fragrance also lasts.
And lasts.
Which brings us right back to the caramel.
For me, the sweet caramel and vanilla combination became overwhelming enough that I wouldn't buy another container.
But I can absolutely see someone who loves gourmand fragrances smelling this and immediately putting three in their cart.
At $6.99 for 8 ounces, the value is there.
The shimmer is pretty.
The formula is pleasant.
You just need to answer one very important question: How committed are you to smelling like dessert?
