As promised, I am going to try to get to more items in the health and beauty of Trader Joe's. Now, Trader Joe's Antioxidant Facial Serum isn't a new item by any stretch of the imagination. But with the nondescript packaging, maybe you've walked past it a few too many times.
Review
So it is summer here in NYC. We have more or less had our first heatwave. Let me be clear, this probably would not be my go-to item this time of year.
But that isn't a bad thing.
Because this might be my go-to item come Fall and Winter.
Unlike some serums, this one is thick. The pump doles out a tiny amount of product and with good reason. If over-applied, your face will feel quite greasy, so a pump or maybe two is all you'll need.
But this made my face feel the way a good primer does: even and smooth. This seems to work well under makeup.
There is a super faint aroma of grapefruit with this, but I had to put some on my hand and sniff a few times to figure that out. All the other elements here seem to not leave behind any smell whatsoever.
Now, for some, they might look at the ingredient list and say, "Dimethicone?! No way." According to the FDA, Dimethicone is considered a skin protectant and it seems to form a pretty solid protective barrier between the air and my face.
But as always, the choice is always yours.
This brings me back to where I started, if it is hot, humid, where you are, this might not be the serum to reach for. There are better ones for those types of conditions.
However, if you need a protective layer that seems both moisturizing and will leave your skin with a smooth surface, then Trader Joe's Antioxidant Facial Serum is a good one to pick up.
As for the antioxidants, I doubt I'll suddenly look 10 years younger. But under makeup, this can hide some fine lines.
Overall
For $9.99 there are few other serums at this price point that seem this nice.
However, if you can't find this item at your local Trader Joe's, then this can also be found through third-party sellers on Amazon.

Pros
- Nice smelling and nice feeling serum, but may be best suited for cooler/less humid times of year
- Light grapefruit smell was nice too
- Packaging makes this look fancy
Cons
- Dimethicone does keep everything in, both good and bad.
- The box this comes in could be nicer as it is almost camouflage colors to blend in so you don't notice it.

I have used this serum for a very long time. I really like it and the price is so reasonable. For what it's worth, I have read that antioxidants can degrade from light exposure so because of the clear packaging it should be stored in a dark place. I just keep mine in a drawer.

I actually use this product and love it. My 20 year old daughter has been using it and loving it as well. It's a great product!

I love this serum! My skin is extremely sensitive and I do not get any negative reaction, and the biggest plus is how it smooths out wrinkles and discolorations... truly. The resveratrol is the main reason, and it works, plus the retinyl palmitate helps, and the price is unbeatable. I am just afraid this item will be canceled if estheticians selling hig cost products try to get rid of it.
