The pros: Â Trader Joe's Chokanan Mango is a good addition to the selection of dried mangoes.
The cons: Nothing honestly comes to mind.
The verdict: Â
Earlier this year Trader Joe's released a product called Trader Joe's Super Sweet Carabao Mango. That product was closest I've had to candied mangos (without the added sugar). Now, they've added another mango variety to their already extensive selection of dried fruit.
When I first opened this package, the first smell that hit me was fresh ripe mango. The color is not nearly as bright as the sweet, but it looks more like a natural, tasty, not chalky tasting mango. These were tender to bite into. The more I ate, the more I enjoyed the flavor of these. They had an almost candy like taste to them. Since the only ingredient here is mangoes, these are a "candy" you can enjoy without feeling too guilty. Since the fruit is dehydrated, you'll want to enjoy this is moderation as there are about 6 slices in a serving. If you've never had Chokanan variety before, they have a similar sweetness to them the way a champagne or Ataulfo mango would have.
If you are a fan of mangoes, then the $3.99 price for a six-ounce bag is reasonable. I enjoy dried fruit and love mangoes. If you enjoyed the Carabao mangoes this winter, you'll likely enjoy these.

Would I buy this again? Â Yes, Trader Joe's Chokanan Mango is a solid choice for dried mango.
