The pros:  Trader Joe's Coconut Water with Pineapple Juice is a complete surprise. Let's be clear, I'm no fan of coconut water, but I really liked this.

The cons:  For coconut water, it's priced well, but for juice it's on the high side at almost $1 per 8 ounce can.

The verdict:  My Trader Joe's is usually well stocked. I actually stop at the new item end cap first and then venture around the store. On a more recent trip it was one of those rare times where there was only a single package of Trader Joe's Coconut Water with Pineapple Juice left. I figured it might be good if there is only one left.

I personally don't care for coconut water. I just don't get it. There is something about the flavor that I just don't like. However, this product made me change my mind. This is a solid hybrid between the sweet taste of pineapple juice and the thin flavor of coconut water. It was sweet, but only just sweet enough. It lacked that true juice sweetness. And for the record, it only contains pineapple puree and not juice. The taste of coconut water is present, but not the first flavor that reaches your tongue. This tries to be the best balance of the two flavors and it works.

That being said, for $3.99 you are getting four cans. They are about the same size and the pineapple juice that Trader Joe's also carries. This is best served chilled, but at room temperature it was fine too. Overall, I've already finished my first four pack and can't wait to buy it again. If you've turned your nose up at coconut water before, maybe it's time to reconsider. If you are a purist, then maybe this product might not be the right fit for you.

Would I buy this again?  This is a yes from me. It's worth a try if you like pineapple juice or coconut water.

Hey Jen! I was just at my local Trader Joe's today and I saw it on shelves. Maybe they are out of stock, but I'd check with the store closest to you.
