The pros: Â Trader Joe's Cotton Candy Grapes are for kids and the kids at heart and can convince anyone that eating fruit is amazing.
The cons:Â These are both pricey, organic, seasonal, and can be difficult to find. These aren't Trader Joe's brand, but they do carry them. I'd hate to know how much Whole Paycheck Foods would charge for these.
The verdict: Â I had heard about these a few years back and had wanted to try them. However, finding them has been a challenge. If you are reading this post, odds are you shop at Trader Joe's. But these grapes are not branded as Trader Joe's, but can be found there, as well as a few other locations according to this article. For $7.99 per 2 pounds these are pricey when you consider the fact that regular grapes are a fraction of the price.
So clearly the question remains: is the taste worth the premium? The conclusion for me was a yes. I didn't realize how much they cost until I looked at my receipt after I got home. Perhaps it is better that way, otherwise, I might have passed over these. The first grape I tried reminded me of a regular grape (and visually looked like a regular grape), but had the notes of cotton candy towards the end. It was a subtle, but different flavor finish than anything else I've ever tried. It had that familiar spun sugar flavor at the end. The more of these I popped in my mouth, the more pronounced the flavor became.
While this would be fun to share such a large package, it also was something I didn't want to share. I selfishly want to keep these to myself. I found these really addicting. If you have kids who are picky eaters, this might help encourage them to eat more fruit. While these grapes may look like ordinary seedless grapes, they do taste different. If all fruit tasted like candy, then we all might be just a bit healthier for it. For me, I'll buy these again if I see them.
So here is the visual breakdown of the grapes that I purchased.

Would I buy this again? If I can find Trader Joe's Cotton Candy Grapes, then yes. I'm willing to pay more for these because I know they are seasonal and I'll have to wait until next year to enjoy them. I think these are worth a try at least once, unless you don't like the flavor of cotton candy or fruit that is very sweet.
