Mineral sunscreens usually leave me looking like I've just auditioned for a role as Casper's cousin. So when I saw Trader Joe's Daily Facial Mineral Sunscreen, I was bracing for the worst. But to my surprise, this little tube came to impress. No spooky white cast, no chalky residue, and it doubles as a pretty decent primer. Yep, TJ's might've just cracked the code. Priced at $12.99, its cheaper than a lot of makeup primers out there.

Review

This sunscreen is a mineral-based formula designed for daily facial use. It's fragrance-free, contains SPF 40, and comes in a compact tube that makes it easy to throw into a beach bag or your everyday skincare lineup. Like Trader Joe's other cult-favorite Daily Facial Sunscreen, it aims to offer protection without the greasy or pasty aftermath that haunts most mineral SPFs.

Let's just say I went into this with low expectations. Mineral sunscreen and I have history, and it usually involves looking like I smeared Elmer's glue across my cheeks. But this stuff? It surprised me in all the right ways.

The texture is smooth and blends much better than most mineral formulas I've tried. It takes a little more effort than a chemical sunscreen, but it doesn't cling to dry patches or settle in fine lines. And once it's on, the white cast is practically nonexistent, even on medium skin tones. For those who've sworn off mineral SPF in the past, this could be a game-changer.

Even better, it wears beautifully under makeup. It has a soft, almost matte finish that makes it feel more like a lightweight primer than a sunscreen. No pilling, no balling up when you layer foundation over it, and no greasy T-zone halfway through the day. Honestly, the multitasking factor alone puts this ahead of a lot of more expensive products on the market.

If you're looking for a gentle, fragrance-free, mineral sunscreen that actually plays nice with your face, this one's worth checking out. It is just as good as Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen.

How to Use:

  • Apply a generous amount to clean, dry skin
  • Blend evenly across the face and neck
  • Let it set for a minute before layering makeup
Ingredients in Trader Joe's Daily Facial Mineral Sunscreen.

Creative Uses

  • Toss in a beach bag or glove compartment as your emergency SPF
  • Use it as a base layer on no-makeup days for a blurred, soft-focus finish
  • Great for sensitive skin days when you want minimal product on your face
  • Mix with a tiny drop of tinted moisturizer for a DIY tinted sunscreen

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe's Daily Facial Mineral Sunscreen is one of those quiet wins. It won't give you a glittery glow or viral TikTok hype, but it gets the job done without making you look like a mime. If you've avoided mineral sunscreens in the past, this one might make you reconsider. Gentle, smooth, and makeup-friendly? It's a solid addition to any skincare shelf.

Hey NY- Like the other facial sunscreen, this is also pretty darn close to Supergoop's mineral sheer sunscreen when you compare ingredients. It isn't exact, but it is close. TJ's has more zinc oxide. I hope that helps.
