The pros: If you love the taste of fresh mozzarella but hate the idea of packing it for yourself because it is messy, then look no further than Trader Joe's Fresh Mozzarella Sticks. This is all the taste, some of the moisture and it's prepackaged for your convenience.

The cons:  If you are hoping for Polly-O String Cheese or anything similar to that, you might not like this because it won't meet your expectations.

The verdict:  For $3.99, this is one of those items that ends up on my grocery list weekly. Each package is a respectable 70 calories. Unlike regular string cheese, this has the taste of fresh mozzarella. It's light and you won't be able to make those "strings" by pulling it apart. This is meant to be taken in small bites and enjoyed. It's salted enough for flavor and the individual packaging means it gives you just a bit more time to enjoy it. One of the hardest parts of dealing with a fresh cheese, especially not a hard cheese is the battle against time. Once it's opened, you are in a battle against the clock to ensure freshness.

Out of the package you get 8 individually wrapped cheese sticks:

Would I buy this again? Yup. This is something I buy on a pretty regular basis. If you want a cheese that isn't as dense as most individually wrapped cheese, then this might be for you.

I buy the fresh mozzarella often, but I don't know that I would buy it in that format. The round variety goes fairly quickly in my house because it is so much fun to smoosh it onto crackers.
