The pros: Â Trader Joe's Mashed Sweet Potatoes taste pretty darn close to homemade mashed sweet potatoes and were perfect from the microwave.
The cons: Â This is a seasonal item, so if you enjoy it then you'll want to pick up a few. I wished they had packaged this in a resealable bag.
The verdict: Â Most nights making anything from scratch in a household of two people on two different schedule just isn't going to happen. So, that means there are lots of frozen veggies going on. It's not that I'm lazy (ok, maybe just a bit), but it just doesn't make sense. In the case of a mash, it's too much for just one person.
Well enter Trader Joe's on this one. This item is seasonal, but not new to shelves. It follows the same formula as their mashed potatoes and mashed cauliflower where there are smaller pucks of product so you can choose how much you want. Six pucks make a serving and a generous serving at that. In the microwave I found that I only needed 2 minutes before they were not only thawed but hot.
The only ingredient here is sweet potatoes. They have some mild lumps but were otherwise absolutely delicious. Nothing but sweet potato goodness ready in almost no time. For $2.49 this might make your life a little easier during the season. Now, speaking of making the holidays easier, I've broken down how to pull off Thanksgiving in about an hour. Or check out Yahoo's Thanksgiving Hacks for recipes using only Trader Joe's products that might make your life a bit easier. Overall, I liked this product the most of any of their frozen mashes I've tried so far. I'd buy this again.

As they are unseasoned, a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg, or pie spice might be good.

I was so excited to find this! I love that it's just the potato, every other mashed potato or veg i have found always includes dairy (ugh).
I like my sweet potatoes savory so i added in a lot of black pepper, salt, chopped scallions and some nutritional yeast for a tasty side. I also used some for a quick weeknight soup! I defrosted in the microwave and then whisked into some veg broth and coconut milk with black beans, some "cruciferous crunch" and a spoon of curry paste- it was delicious and took maybe 15min start to finish!
