The pros:  If you love Matcha, then Trader Joe's Matcha White Chocolate Bar is probably for you.
The cons: Â This is not going to be a universally well received flavor. In fact, there might have been some matcha overload as the flavor was present in both the white chocolate and the filling. My bar, while divided into 8 pieces never separated easily.
The verdict:  For $2.29 you are getting a 3 ounce bar of white chocolate that matches the color of matcha. The matcha theme is continued in the filling as well. The white chocolate with the matcha was ok, but it was sweet.
The matcha did cut through some of the typical sweetness that comes with white chocolate. Breaking this into pieces was no easy task. I always had some of the filling on me. The filling was a bit problematic for me. The matcha's astringent flavor came right through.
The astringent flavor reminded me of the flavor that red or black icing sometimes have (yes, I mean the flavors that aren't flavorless). It was an aftertaste that I couldn't get past. This is for true matcha lovers.
If you are on the fence about it, this bar might be overkill. It was nice to buy and try once, but I won't be repurchasing.

Would I buy this again? Â No. For me, this bar could have been improved by breaking up the matcha flavor. Plain white chocolate with a matcha filling would have worked better at balance and contrast.
