The pros: Â Trader Joe's Mexican Style Roasted Corn is a flavor explosion. I thought it was fantastic on its own and could be used to compliment a number of dishes.
The cons:  If you have food allergies, then some of the allergy information was a bit unexpected.
The verdict: Â
Few foods make me think of summer more than corn. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure every BBQ I went to there was corn on the cob. While I love corn on the cob, I almost always need to floss afterwards. When I went to Trader Joe's on my weekly run, this item caught my eye. Besides, it's rare that I actually get excited about reviewing a veggie item. If I can say I've avoided one area of the frozen foods section, it's the frozen fruits and veggies.
While I seem to steer clear of that section, I must admit that this was really really good. True Mexican Street corn is served on the cob. Therefore, the name of this is "Mexican Style." Regardless of the nomenclature, the bottom line is simple: this product is good, easy to prepare and flavorful. Yet, it's initial appearance may underwhelm you. Like other items that have a sauce, there are little pucks of sauce in here too. The sauce is just enough to coat the kernels and nothing more. The cheese is a finishing product to the slightly burnt looking corn.
The corn is sweet, the sauce is slightly spicy with a kick of lime, and the cheese adds a creaminess. While eating this I was imagining all the ways I'll be using the next bag I buy (tacos, burritos, black bean and corn salad all came to mind). Sadly, those aspirations will have to wait because I've finished half the bowl. Priced at $3.29, I'm definitely going to have to repurchase this.

Would I buy this again? Â Absolutely, I can totally see this item making my weekly list. I struggled to not eat the whole bowl.

I know you reviewed this last year but I just started buying it again this year. I so love this product. Summer is a'comin'. Where I am in Seattle it hit 77 degrees today and it's supposed to be over 80 tomorrow. Way too hot for me but a great time for some of TJS summertime offerings. I decided to make sort of a souffle/ corn pudding out of it this time. And I also added some finely diced red peppers & jalapenos. And of course a lot more cojita cheese! Yummy warm but also surprising good room temp.

Hey Dag! I still very much approve of the Mexican style corn. So good. I'm jealous of your weather. Today I found myself in a hoodie. Your combination sounds pretty darn awesome and sounds like a meal in itself. Thanks as always for sharing!
