What is Trader Joe's Mushroom Medley?

Trader Joe's Mushroom Medley is a frozen mix of sautéed mushrooms, including cremini, shiitake, oyster, and boletus varieties. Trader Joe's frozen mushrooms are pre-cooked with olive oil, garlic, salt, and parsley, making them a quick and easy addition to any meal. Priced at $3.49, it's a convenient option for those who want to enjoy the earthy flavors of mushrooms without the prep work.

Taste and Texture

The taste of Trader Joe's Mushroom Medley is earthy and rich, with a well-seasoned profile thanks to the olive oil, garlic, and herbs. The mushrooms retain their natural umami flavor, enhanced by the light seasoning. While they're not as firm as fresh mushrooms due to the freezing process, they still have a pleasant texture that works well in a variety of dishes. The medley has a slightly chewy consistency, typical of sautéed mushrooms, and the blend of different varieties adds depth to the flavor.

  • Beer: A brown ale or a stout pairs well with the umami flavor of the mushrooms.

Food Pairings:

Grilled Chicken: The medley adds a flavorful component to simple grilled chicken, enhancing the overall dish.

Steak: The richness of the mushrooms makes them an excellent side for grilled or pan-seared steak.

This would be a good base for cream of mushroom soup.

Given how easily they spoil, frozen mushrooms would be great to have on hand. I have done this myself on the occasion that there was an enormous temporary savings on fresh mushrooms, but it was a chore that I would gladly relinquish.

I couldn't agree more. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who has problems with them spoiling so quickly. I absolutely agree with you. Thanks so much for stopping by!
