The pros: Trader Joe's Mushroom Medley are quick and easy mushrooms that can used in place in of freshly sautéed mushrooms.
The cons:Â Not as low-calorie as some other frozen vegetable options, but not terrible either. They are simple in flavor as they only contain mushrooms, olive oil, salt, parsley, and garlic.
The verdict: Â For the most part, when I go shopping I don't always bring a list with me. I would like to think that my memory can hold at least a brief shopping list. For the most part, I do ok. But if I had to mention one single item that I forget more often than other items, then it would be mushrooms.
One of the common requests that my husband makes is that I make bacon dressing. I remember the key items, but then forget the mushrooms that being sautéed in the bacon fat. I have no idea why it escapes my memory almost every time. But, since trying this bag of frozen mushrooms, I realized it might be easier to keep a bag of this in the freezer for those forgetful moments.
Most recently, I literally started making the dressing just to come to the conclusion that I was missing a key ingredient. I improvised and used some of the contents of this bag. It came out just fine. When I tried Trader Joe's Marsala Simmer Sauce and wanted more mushrooms, I added some of these to this. It came out pretty good. Even if you were to make marsala from scratch, then this would be a good bag to have on hand.
It's a nice blend of several mushroom varieties. It makes for a quick add-on to a meal. For $3.49 it was well priced considering the mushrooms were already sliced and sautéed. All they need is a pairing to go with them. I keep a bag of these on hand.

This would be a good base for cream of mushroom soup.

Hey Alek! I did not even think of that. Great suggestion!

Given how easily they spoil, frozen mushrooms would be great to have on hand. I have done this myself on the occasion that there was an enormous temporary savings on fresh mushrooms, but it was a chore that I would gladly relinquish.

I couldn't agree more. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who has problems with them spoiling so quickly. I absolutely agree with you. Thanks so much for stopping by!
