The pros: Trader Joe's Organic Air Popped Popcorn is new and is a healthy popcorn.
The cons: My husbands reaction was "this tastes like diet popcorn." You can take that on face value. The bag makes it obvious to anyone within 100 feet that you are consuming this product.
The verdict:
I remember growing up, we would try to sneak on to the internet. The noise of either dial up or AOL's welcome gave us all up. There was no hiding our actions. We were totally busted.
This new popcorn is packaged in one of the noisiest bags I've ever. There is no moving this bag without letting everyone know that you are snacking.
My husband got into this bag of popcorn at about 2AM as a post midnight snack (He works nights, so his 2AM is everyone else's mid afternoon). His chewing didn't wake me. This bag did.
Since I was awake, he thought it would be a good time to chat. In my semi-comatose state I asked how he liked the popcorn. He looked at it and said "Did you buy diet pop corn because that is what it tastes like."
Clearly, he was a bit underwhelmed with the flavor profile here. Clearly he did not read or analyze the bag either.
The next day I had a bit of this bag. I sort of came to the same conclusion. It's ok.
It's just plain old pop corn. No major amounts of flavor. A hint of salt.
This product is organic, but I'm not sure that distinction makes any impact on the final taste. It tasted about as fresh as you are going to get with bagged popcorn.
For $1.99 it's cheap enough and is sold in a pretty big looking bag. If you like your pop corn on the plain side, then this is probably worth a try. If you like to get creative with your seasoning of popcorn, this would be a good one to experiment with too.

Would I buy this again? Trader Joe's Organic Air Popped Popcorn is a take it or leave it item. It was ok. Nothing that was mind blowing, but there was nothing bad about if you like things more plain. I think my husband and I prefer things a bit more flavorful. So we will finish the bag, but it might not end up back in our carts.

Could do a homemade caramel corn with these.

Hey Alek! Absolutely. These are truly a blank canvas for some flavor. Thanks as always for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and suggestions!

Have you tried the movie theater butter popcorn or the organic olive oil popcorn yet? Both are really good.

I haven't tried those yet. Once I get through this big bag, I'll look into those items. I like a bit of flavor with my popcorn. Thanks for sharing some recommendations!

I just bought TJs air popped popcorn today. I LOVE it, but I also prefer little to no salt and seasoning so that I can taste the REAL flavor. Tbis pocorn is PERFECT. Crisp and not to salty. This popcorn replaces my addiction to Skinny Pop for sure!

Hey the9to5minimalist! I'm glad you love it. If you really like the plain flavor, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. In fact, you'll prefer it over other items on the shelf. I'm glad you took the time to stop by and share your thoughts on this. I hope you'll stop by again with any other thoughts you have :).

Doubt anyone will read this but I'm a huge fan of plain popcorn and I hate salt! I was not a fan of this trader Joe's popcorn because of that hint of salt flavor but I did try a brand called Skinny Pop 100 calories. I think its perfection. At first bit I was like this is okay but then the more I ate the buttery flavor came out. I even had to stop and look at the bag again to make sure I was eating the same popcorn. lol It was so good! So if your like me and dislike salt but yet still love butter, plain healthy popcorn you should give it a try you won't be disappointed.
