The pros: Trader Joe's Organic Pomegranate White Tea can be enjoyed hot or cold, sweetened or unsweetened, and the pomegranate doesn't overwhelm your palate. Each tea bag can easily brew 20 ounces of tea. Don't be fooled by the term "white tea" because this brewed a solid pink color.
The cons: If you are hoping for this to be brewed Pom Wonderful then you are mistaken. The pomegranate is subtle.
I seem to drink the most tea in the dead of summer and winter. I'm almost positive that every beverage (except for my morning coffee) has been tea. Unlike winter, I prefer my tea iced. However, for this item I did make it both ways. I can assure you it is as enjoyable hot as it is cold.
When I think of white teas I think about water that barely takes on any color. However, this is totally not the case here. This tea brewed a very strong pink hue. While I brewed it in an 8 ounce cup the first time, I brewed another bag in a 20 ounce cup. Both were thoroughly pink in color. In addition to white teas usually having a faint color, they usually have a faint flavor. Once again, that is not the case here. This tea is full of flavor. There is a slight tartness from the pomegranate extract and the distinct taste of hibiscus with a light herbaceous flavor from the lemongrass.
For $2.49 you are getting 20 individually plastic wrapped tea bags to ensure maximum freshness. If you have environmental concerns, perhaps this is not the best tea to reach for. Despite some potential packaging concerns, this product provided a surprising amount of flavor. If you tend to sweeten your tea, you might not need quite as much sugar with this particular brew. And while I tried it both hot and cold, I found it to be most refreshing chilled. Overall, this is worth repurchasing.
