Trader Joe's Organic Tea and Lemonade review

The pros: Trader Joe's Organic Tea and Lemonade is essentially the beverage better known as an Arnold Palmer which is a mix of lemonade and tea.

The cons:  Nothing really stands out other than the obvious sugary nature of this drink.

The verdict:  Trader Joe's Organic Tea and Lemonade review

Oh summer, so close and yet so far. Is there any drinks that remind you more of summer than lemonade or iced tea? Ok, perhaps a cocktail with a cute umbrella sticking out of it, maybe even perhaps something in a red solo cup. But for me, the only time of year I really sit and make iced tea or lemonade is summer time.

The mixing of iced tea and lemonade form a nicely balanced drink called Arnold Palmer. However, with the addition of vodka it becomes a John Daly. How did these names comes to be? Wikipedia has the story as Arnold Palmer himself ordering a drink at the bar. Some clearly recognized him and ordered "that Arnold Palmer drink" and the rest is history.

John Daly was also another golfer, however he dealt with alcohol abuse, thus alcoholic variation of this its name. And if you are wondering, yes, a lemon flavored vodka compliments this drink. I've seen people add iced tea flavored vodka to this too. However, I do try to limit my flavored vodkas to ones where I can use them in multiple ways.

Now, no where on the bottle does it mention Arnold Palmer by name. However in true Trader Joe's fashion it is clearly visualized almost every side of the packaging. Golf references aside, this drink is a good balance between tea and lemonade. Which some how just ends up as sweetened lemon tea.

For $2.99, whether you are enjoying it as an Arnold Palmer or a John Daly, this is a good choice to reach for. It's a favorite in our household.

Interesting-I never knew about the iced tea, lemon and vodka version being called a John Daly. And dang I could use one now....7pm and 85 degrees still in Seattle. I like this tea and lemonade also. To cut down on the sugar/calories I mix 1/2 of this w/TJS low calorie lemonade and/or unsweetened iced tea.
PS -Try their relatively new sweet lemon slices. I actually keep them in my freezer and toss them into water, iced tea or lemonade.

That's a great idea for keeping the calorie count in check. I'll have to keep an eye out for the lemon slices. Thanks for the heads up!
