The pros: Trader Joe’s Pub Cheese is a long standing item on shelves and with good reason.
The cons: Cheese snobs might turn their noses up at this.
The verdict: There are some things I cannot articulate why I like them. I usually boil it down to “I just do.”
This almost falls into that category.
If you haven’t tried this product, then it has the texture of a whipped cream cheese. On the taste level, it has a similar flavor profile the powder that comes in Kraft Mac and Cheese. And no not Velveeta. There is a difference.
It’s not a fancy cheese. In fact, it reminded me somewhat of Easy Cheese, you know the stuff that comes in a spray can.
But so much better.
But oddly enough, as an non fancy cheese it actually made Food and Wine as something chefs reach for at Trader Joe’s.
And all I can say is that this cheese is snackable, not fancy, delicious, addicting and will make you reach for crackers or pretzels.
Once you open this, you’ll be looking for things to dip or spread this on.
For $3.99 it’s a good deal. If you are feeling more adventurous or want something complex, you can always make this at home with a recipe liked this one.
Otherwise, this can also be a crowd pleaser. My husband took to this cheese and referred to it as “dangerous.” Needless to say, it was empty a short time later.
