The pros: Trader Joe's Rose Facial Oil has returned to shelves and is a good all around moisturizer.

The cons: Your skin type will vary as will the results.

The verdict:  For the most part, I only seem to write about edible items. Today, I take a break and get to an item that is in the health and beauty aisle.

Now, this isn't the first time this product has been on shelves. It sold out before I got to it previously. I saw people raving about it on Instagram, but mostly ignored it. What I lack in food allergies, I make up for in sensitive skin and reacting to various products.

So for the most part, I used to shop at CVS for my skin care needs, but I've gotten away from those products. Either I would break out or I would find something that would work but there would be another unexpected problem. There would be a number of occasions where my husband would go to bed telling me "Your face smells nice." Only to have him tell me "Your face smells punky" in the morning.

Not romantic words, but perhaps something worth considering. Most mornings it doesn't matter because he works the night shift. But those few times, I'd like not to smell funky. I really use these products to deal with skin that is dry. I've moved on to Sephora for skin care, but oddly enough, my husband still has the occasional gripe about some of those products too. At the end of the day, regardless of his gripes the most important thing is how my face feels after using a product like this.

So I gave this product a whirl. For $5.99, I don't have much to lose. This isn't exactly Sephora levels of pricing. And yes, I've tried moisturizer from there too where my husband has made the same commentary. For under $6 you don't feel bad about returning it or just pitching it. But here, that wasn't necessary.

So if this smells like roses at night, would it smell like a compost heap in the morning? The answer to that was no. It was light and floral going on. It's nothing that would overpower or make you feel like you are in an entire bouquet of flowers. The aroma had neutralized overnight.

The most important thing here beyond the fragrance is how it makes you feel. This left my skin moisturized but not oily. I actually like this as much as I like my regular routine of First Aid Beauty products. Those products have almost no fragrance to them.

This rose product makes no promises that you'll wake up looking younger, have fewer fine lines, but is simply just a solid facial moisturizer. It is a seasonal item that usually hits stores around Valentine's Day, but is also reappeared around Mother's Day. This is one of those products would be even better if it were available year round.

If you are complete enamored with this product and it is no longer available, there are some third party sellers on Amazon who are selling it as well.

Here is the visual run down of what you get if you buy this product:

Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Rose Facial Oil again. My sensitive and dry skin responded pretty well to this. Best of all, the fragrance wasn't overwhelming.

BB you sound like me-dry and uber sensitive skin. To top that off I am paler than pale with rosacea. I am a self-proclaimed product w☆ore! I have been a faithful Sephora client (love getting the freebies to try out products) and would try everything and anything to include First Aid products which I generally like. I recall mentioning the TJs rose toner spray to you which I really like. I haven't been able to find the rose oil product at my Trader Joe's. I saw it there once and thought I would buy it on the next visit. Sadly, havent seen it since. But according to your review it sounds like a keeper so I'm going to keep a lookout for it. I hope you're also able to try the spray. Thanks for the great review.

Hey Dag! We have so many things in common. I'm glad Sephora and Trader Joe's are drives in opposite directions. Sephora is pretty dangerous for me. And yes, it's all about the samples for me too! I did not see the toner on my last few visits otherwise I would have picked that up as well. I'll keep an eye on it. If my skin tolerates it well, I'll post that review too. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

I wanted to let you know that I tried this tonight over my entire face & also over some eczema patches I have underneath my eyes that I sometimes develop when under alot of stress & when my immune system is challenged. I was impressed that it didn't irritate my periodic rosacea or eczema. No burning, irritation or additional redness. Because I have worked in healthcare my entire career I have also had a lifelong interest in naturopathic medicine as well as ingredients used in cosmetics/skin care products. I was pretty impressed with the ingredient list. Other similar products cost double or triple that what Trader Joe's sells it for. So far so good! Thank you so much for your review. It led me to buying the product & giving it a chance. PS the scent is pretty similar to the facial spray. And just to let you know water, rose water & rose oil are the first ingredients before witch hazel in the spray so it's more of a moisturizing spray opposed to a traditional toner. Instead of actually washing my face in the morning I spray this on a cotton square & wipe my face. A group of dermatologists/plastic surgeon docs that I worked for recommended to not traditionally wash your face in the morning (soap & water) if you have thoroughly cleansed your face the night before either with wipes or traditional soap/water. It's too drying. The facial spray is perfect for the morning. Just a helpful hint.

Hey Dag! I'm glad you like it too. I rarely venture into the beauty stuff because there have been things there that have made me break out. If I believe it is me and not the product, I won't even post it. I'm still keeping an eye out for the rose toner! Hopefully I'll see it next trip. I'm glad I picked up two bottles the last time I was there too! Great tips you shared. Thanks as always for taking the time to stop by and share your thoughts!

Well so far so good. It hasn't made me break out and it's actually helped some patches of eczema I have. Seems like a winner. I better go out and buy another bottle before it's no longer available

BB- I forgot to tell you that I had a conversation with the manager of my Trader Joe's recently. I asked him if the rose line was a permanent addition or one that could ultimately go away. His comment was that it was one that is most likely not to be permanent because of availability. Apparently others have had the same question so he looked into it. Because of the low cost I might actually do a little more stocking up just in case. I will be pretty bummed if the oil & spray goes away.

Grrrrrr! I don't like his answer, but I do appreciate you sharing this. There is nothing more frustrating than falling in love with a beauty product to have it possibly disappear. I have heard the oil is seasonal (it showed up around valentine's day originally) and made a reappearance this past Mother's Day. I'm wondering if they are going to add this to their seasonal rotation. Thanks as always for the heads up! I (and people who stop by) appreciate the info!
