The pros:  The whole bunch of Trader Joe's Roses lasted just about a week. At almost 10 days they finally hit the compost pile. Really pretty. Nice pick me up.

The cons:  Trader Joe's Roses don't last forever (it would be nice if they could do something about that.)

The verdict:  For $5.49 for 8 roses (prices vary) were pretty and seemed fresh. I brought them home, put them in water with some fresh flower food. Upon doing some research on how to care for these online I came up with the following source that seemed helpful: Caring for fresh cut flowers.

In other words, like a pet, Trader Joe's Roses need to be tended to. Water, food, and some grooming to ensure they last as long as possible. The roses were purchased on the first of the month and by the 7th half were past their prime. Three remained for two more days. Amazingly, the greens looked fantastic (just not in a vase all by themselves.

Such nice flowers whether you are buying them for yourself, someone you care about, or someone you wish to tell you how much you appreciate them. I can't honestly say when they came into Trader Joe's but they lasted 8 full days at home with fresh water, cut stems, and flower food. This is a yes, I'd buy this again. At under $6 it's a nice little luxury.

    The bag I picked out:

Fresh from the store Day 1:

Day 2 the roses are a bit more open:

Day 3 bottoms trimmed and fresh water:

Day 4. If you notice there are 2 roses who aren't as perky any more and the stems are starting to bend. Yes I forgot to take the picture before I went to bed. That's why the lighting is different:

    Day 5:

Day 6 (I forgot to take pictures)

Day 7 (and then there were 3 of the 8):

Day 8:  Looking a bit worse for wear today, two stems are bent. One is still straight up, but all the flowers are starting to look dried out. Last picture I'm taking. Day 10 these finally hit the compost pile. The greens still looked good.

Would I buy this again?  Yes. I'd prefer if someone brought them to me as a sign of love and affection ::cough husband cough::  As a gift to myself, they are fantastically priced and last quite a long time. I'd buy them for someone else who needs a pick me up too.
