Trader Joe's Sparkling Pink Lemonade

The pros: Trader Joe's Sparkling Pink Lemonade is one of four sparkling flavors available at Trader Joe's.

The cons: This might hit some as too sweet. It's still empty (but refreshing) calories.

The verdict: I know that summer is winding down, but as a teacher you never really want to see summer go. Even if the weather is hot. It's just a relaxing time of year for me. I love summer flavors too. Everything is nice and light. By the time you are sick of nice and light, it's time for the heavy flavors of the fall to begin. It's September, so we are in that middle time between it being summer and autumn. As I part ways with my summer vacation, lemonade will still have a place in my refrigerator until those heavy fall flavors arrive.

There are three types of lemonade drinkers I know. They either like it sweet, tart, or spiked. This lands on the sweet side of the flavor spectrum. If you prefer tart, then reach for Trader Joe's Organic Strawberry Lemonade. For $2.99 this beverage is light, refreshing, sweet and not tart at all. As an added bonus, it comes in a glass bottle to keep it's nice effervescence. Those bubbles have traveled a long way. This product is made in France. I'm sure most of the cost here is related to shipping and the glass bottle it arrives in. The glass bottle does a good job of keeping those bubbles in. So as long as you keep the top on tightly, it will hold better than most plastic bottles. It's also a light shade of pink which makes it look pretty in most glasses. Like any of Trader Joe's Sparkling drinks, this too is mostly sugar but tasty empty calories.

Overall, this is a good choice if you like your drink sweet, pink, and a bit pricey. Not a bad item to reach for, but nothing your diet need either. For us, as an occasional treat, it makes its way into my cart from time to time.

Would I buy this again? I would buy Trader Joe's Sparkling Pink Lemonade again, but it does not make the weekly shopping list. It's empty calories and we prefer Trader Joe's Sparkling Limeade more (probably because we make some good mojitos with it)
