With June on the horizon and strawberry season upcoming it seems only appropriate to have some strawberry-flavored items. So rather than having a food item, they've made a light strawberry drink.
Taste
In a time when people are hoarding everything from toilet paper to bottled water, I decided against picking up extra water cases, I chose instead to pick up a few boxes of Trader Joe's Sparkling Strawberry Juice Beverage.
I figured this is just as hydrating with a bit of added sugar for flavor. Over the holiday season, I got to pick up a few jars of the Italian Strawberries in Syrup. If your local Trader Joe's still has a few jars of this leftover, it is worth considering picking up. It was a seasonal item, but if you enjoy intense strawberry flavor then that is the product to pick up.
Now, in terms of flavor, this does not rival that intensity. Not even close.
However, this is still good in its own way.
It's light and refreshing without tasting thickly syrupy. It is also simple in a way that the Strawberry Rhubarb Soda was not. It is more pure strawberry and strikes a pretty good balance between a full-sugar soda like Trader Joe's French Berry Lemonade Soda but does not have the artificialness of a seltzer.
And in case you are wondering, I did a bit of experimenting. Yes, this can make a decent copycat Starbucks Pink drink with the addition of some unsweetened coconut beverage.
Best of all it, this four-pack is priced about the same as one Tall Starbucks Pink Drink at $3.99.
Overall
Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Sparkling Strawberry Juice Beverage again. It wasn't my favorite but it was a nice change from seltzer.
