I love trying new products from Trader Joe's. The ones I enjoy trying the most aren't actually edible. They're actually the ones from the health and beauty aisle. They're different and I love to see how they compare to some of the more expensive items I've accumulated and if I can cut some of those expensive items out of my routine.

A quick comparison
The closest product I've tried to this is Glow Recipe's Watermelon Mask. Now for a similar-sized product, you would spend nearly $40 on a jar of similar size. Trader Joe's variety sells for only $6.99.
Now, are they duplicates? In short no. They are similar, but not the same. First off, it didn't make my skin feel peel-y in the same way the Glow Recipe's formula did. Both however have a Jolly Rancher type of watermelon fragrance going for them. The Glow Recipe's formula has a pink hue to it, however, there is no coloring here.
Review
I peeled back the box and found a delightfully thick gel-cream—think candlelight romantic with smoothie vibes. It spreads beautifully without sliding off, thanks to that lotion-like texture. Imagine your favorite moisturizer but served with a watermelon twist.
That scent is a soft, sweet melon whisper—not that over-the-top candy aroma that gives you a headache. I’ve seen comments online comparing it to a Jolly Rancher, but it’s way more subtle and sophisticated—basically a spa-like mini-vacay in a jar.
Applying it feels cool and refreshing, especially after a hot shower. It tingles ever so gently—not enough to sting, just enough to say, “Yep, this is working.” As it soaks in, there’s a slight sticky residue for a few minutes, but it settles down faster than a seasonal tantrum.
Come morning, my skin feels plumped, hydrated, and soft. No drama, no redness, no peeling—just calm, healthy morning skin. Not exactly glass-skin shiny like $40 saviors, but a clean, hydrated canvas that’s glow-worthy without being over the top.
The packaging screams summer and happiness, and at around $6.99, it’s a wallet-friendly treat—even if it isn’t your “big reveal” mask. Bonus: it’s more hydrating than some luxe versions and holds its own in results. So unless you’re chasing ultra-expensive square-meter face farms, it’s a solid alternative.
If you can't find this at your local store, then you can probably find it through third-party sellers on Amazon.

How to Use
- Layer it on as your final moisturizer step and let it work overnight without washing it off
- Have sensitive skin? Try a 10-minute mask removal after cleansing
- In summer, use post-shower while it’s still light and cool on bare skin

Creative Uses
- Smooth a dab onto elbows and knees for targeted softening
- Mix with your regular night cream for empowered hydration
- Swipe over dry patches on feet before bed
- Pair this with Trader Joe's Watermelon Lip Mask for total facial hydration.

I am so glad you tried this. I've been meaning to go buy a jar. I'm glad that it lives up to its promises.

Hey Dag! Yes, it's really nice. Best of all the price tag is way better than the similar product the website hints at. I know Glow Recipe has a lot of fans, but their overnight mask just didn't work for me (my mom and sister both love it). Thanks for stopping by and I hope all is well with you!

It says nowhere on the box or jar where this product is made. Korea??? The marketing of it as a “night mask” makes me think it is, as that’s a Korean thing to do. TJ also sells a sheet mask, again w no place of origin, that strongly resembles Korean ones. I guess what I’m saying is, if these are Korean products, their price point is crazy cheap and this would make me want to buy them all up!

Thanks for sharing Brenna! I wish I had that info to share too.

I love it so much!! Also, I sometimes apply a thick layer, and it always absorbs nicely. Never had a problem with mess!
