I love trying new products from Trader Joe's. The ones I enjoy trying the most aren't actually edible. They're actually the ones from the health and beauty aisle. They're different and I love to see how they compare to some of the more expensive items I've accumulated and if I can cut some of those expensive items out of my routine.
A quick comparison
The closest product I've tried to this is Glow Recipe's Watermelon Mask. Now for a similar-sized product, you would spend nearly $40 on a jar of similar size. Trader Joe's variety sells for only $6.99.
Now, are they duplicates? In short no. They are similar, but not the same. First off, it didn't make my skin feel peel-y in the same way the Glow Recipe's formula did. Both however have a Jolly Rancher type of watermelon fragrance going for them. The Glow Recipe's formula has a pink hue to it, however, there is no coloring here.
Testing it out
Most important here is how this performs. Being the mom of a 1-month-old, my self-care routine has fallen off a bit. So anything that makes my skin feel good at this point is more than welcome.
This mask has a medium consistency. It's not runny and thin, but it isn't overly thick either. It seems more or less the consistency of a regular moisturizer. And it is a mask in the sense that you are supposed to leave it on and then wash it off.
Or if you have sensitive skin, then just use it for 10 minutes and again, wash it off. In either case, my skin felt pretty good after using this. And yes, it did feel like a regular moisturizer and absorbed pretty well. I didn't put it on too thickly as the last thing I want is a messy/greasy pillowcase.
I tried things out both ways. Both ways seemed to work fairly well. My face felt nicely hydrated. The fact that it smelled nice was an added bonus. But again, I liked this a lot better than Glow Recipe's formulation and feel like I got better results from it. I haven't broken out from using this product so far.
Overall
Overall, for under $7, it is one of those nice beauty products that are worth a try. It's just a shame it didn't hit shelves before Mother's Day.
Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Watermelon Overnight Face Mask. It was a nice and affordable addition to my skincare routine. My hope is that this isn't a seasonal item as anything watermelon seems to be a limited run item.
If you can't find this at your local store, then you can probably find it through third-party sellers on Amazon.

Hey Dag! Yes, it's really nice. Best of all the price tag is way better than the similar product the website hints at. I know Glow Recipe has a lot of fans, but their overnight mask just didn't work for me (my mom and sister both love it). Thanks for stopping by and I hope all is well with you!

It says nowhere on the box or jar where this product is made. Korea??? The marketing of it as a “night mask” makes me think it is, as that’s a Korean thing to do. TJ also sells a sheet mask, again w no place of origin, that strongly resembles Korean ones. I guess what I’m saying is, if these are Korean products, their price point is crazy cheap and this would make me want to buy them all up!

Thanks for sharing Brenna! I wish I had that info to share too.

I love it so much!! Also, I sometimes apply a thick layer, and it always absorbs nicely. Never had a problem with mess!
