While the 57 Chevy Cocktail might sound like a vintage drink straight out of a mid-century diner, this recipe is actually a bit more modern. But don't let that fool you-the flavors are as smooth as a Sunday drive.
This cocktail blends Southern Comfort, vodka, orange liqueur, Amaretto, and pineapple juice, finished with just a splash of grenadine. The result? A drink that's tropical, balanced, and just sweet enough to keep you coming back for another sip.

What is a 57 Chevy Cocktail?
The 57 Chevy Cocktail is named after one of the most iconic cars in American history-the classic 1957 Chevrolet. Just like the car, this drink has style and smooth performance. It's fruity, fun, and carries a nostalgic punch that feels like the perfect throwback to cocktail lounges and tiki bars.
Why You'll Love This Drink
- Retro charm with modern flavor. The name might be classic, but the flavor is timeless.
- Perfect balance. Sweet, nutty, and citrusy with just enough kick.
- Crowd pleaser. Fruity enough for casual drinkers yet complex enough for cocktail lovers.
- Easy to make. No obscure ingredients or complicated prep.
- Visually stunning. That sunset gradient from the grenadine makes it as pretty as it is delicious.
Ingredients
Vodka: Acts as the base spirit and provides a clean backdrop that lets the other flavors shine. Choose a smooth, mid-range vodka-no need to splurge on top-shelf here.
Southern Comfort: This whiskey-flavored liqueur adds warmth, sweetness, and a little spice. It's what gives the drink its signature depth and "Southern charm."
Grand Marnier (or Orange Liqueur): Adds bright citrus notes that balance the sweetness. Grand Marnier gives a richer, slightly boozy orange flavor, while Triple Sec or Cointreau offer a lighter touch.
Amaretto: A sweet almond liqueur that rounds out the drink with nutty richness. It pairs beautifully with the fruit elements, adding a smooth, dessert-like finish.
Pineapple Juice: Brings the tropical punch and ties all the flavors together. Use 100% pineapple juice for the best flavor (fresh or not-from-concentrate works best).
Grenadine: Just a splash adds a pop of color and a subtle pomegranate sweetness. It also gives the drink that "sunset in a glass" look.
Tips for Making This
Here are my best tips for making this 57 Chevy Drink:
- Use fresh pineapple juice for a brighter, more natural flavor.
- Chill your glass before serving to keep the drink crisp and cold.
- Want it lighter? Add a splash of soda water or more pineapple juice.
- Want it sweeter? Drizzle in a bit more grenadine.

How to make this
Step 1: In a cocktail shaker filled with ice add Vodka, Southern Comfort, Grand Marnier, and Southern Comfort.

Step 2: Add Pineapple Juice.

Step 3: Add a splash of grenadine.

Step 4: Give this a good shake. When you give this a good shake, make sure the sides of the shaker are ice cold.

Step 5: Garnish with a cherry or orange peel and pour into a cocktail glass or serve on the rocks.

This reminds me of a much better version of the cocktails I used to stir up in college. I must try it!

This is one beautiful drink. Now I can't resist asking what is "good quality ice"?

Great question. So I live outside of NYC. Our water is great. However I know people have hard water so in that case I'd always recommend getting store bought or making ice with bottled water. The ice does have a huge impact on the final drink. Thanks so much for asking!
