Ever wish your drink tasted like toasted almonds but without actual almonds or baking anything? Meet the Toasted Almond Cocktail, a blend of equal parts amaretto and coffee liqueur, topped with cream. It's a grown-up dessert cocktail inspired by cocktail classics like the White Russian, but with major toasted almond vibes 🍸.

Whether you're winding down after dinner or just craving something sweet and indulgent, this cocktail is the ultimate lazy-nightcap that feels luxe. Plus, no espresso machine, no blender, no problem.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz amaretto liqueur (try Disaronno or any almond-flavored brand)
  • 2 oz coffee liqueur (e.g. Kahlúa or your favorite brand)
  • 2 oz cream (or milk, half-and-half, or a dairy-free substitute like oat or almond milk)
  • Optional: ice, toasted almonds, grated nutmeg, or cinnamon for garnish

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Only three ingredients: Sweet, creamy, and effortless.
  • Almond meets coffee meets dessert: Think rich, frothy, and utterly satisfying.
  • Flexible and fun: Swap cream for non-dairy options or lighten up with milk.

Tips & Tricks

  • Skip the shaker? Stirring works, but you miss out on froth.
  • Want more richness? Use heavy cream; lighter? Milk is your friend.
  • Feeling bold? Add a splash of vodka for an extra kick.

Variations of this Cocktail

Here are some simple variations on this cocktail to have it suit your tastes:

  • If you are looking to make this dairy-free, you can swap out the half and half for a nondairy option
  • Or if you want a stronger drink that is also nondairy, then see if you can find an almond milk liqueur to take the place of the dairy in this recipe
  • To make this creamier, use light or heavy cream
  • To make this a dessert, use ice cream and pour this over the ice cream like an affogato.
  • You could use other nut-flavored liqueurs like Frangelico to make this as well.

Creative Serving Suggestions

  • Serve in a rocks glass with a cinnamon stick for vintage vibes.
  • Make a pitcher for dessert parties-just multiply the recipe (shake in batches).
  • Blend with vanilla ice cream for a boozy coffee milkshake. Yum.

Totally, use half-and-half or milk if you want a less rich version.

Is this drink sweet?

Yes, it's meant to taste like a boozy dessert: sweet, creamy, and smooth.

Can I make a mocktail version?

Notes

Here are my best tips for making this:
  • Always use good quality ice
  • Swirling to combine is an optional step. Because of the different weights of the liquids this will do a very cool looking ombre effect.
  • I used a ratio of 1:1:1 on this. You can play around to get a drink that is balanced to your taste buds.

There is a delicious cocktail I used to get every Christmas at a local restaurant after delivering Christmas gifts. It's called Hot Toasted Almond and had Amaretto, Frangelico, and half and half. After driving all over in cold weather, it was indeed a treat. When they changed staff, they stopped offering the drink. For some reason, I've never tried making it myself but your post inspires me to do so. Both your recipe and the one I used to get are special!!

I remember drinking toasted almonds made with Kaluha and amaretto and ice cream..
They came out like a milk shake.
