The pros:  Trader Joe's Hummus with Freshly Ground Horseradish is a recent addition to the dips of the refrigerated aisle.

The cons:  Does not bring the heat that you might expect.

The verdict:  So recently, Trader Joe's has decided to discontinue the Sriracha Hummus. I really enjoyed that hummus. It was flavorful, yet spicy. It had great texture.

So I picked this up hoping to get my hummus flavor with just a bit of a kick. I mean horseradish whenever I've used it adds a nice heat and unique flavor.

Well, this was not what I expected.  Not at all.

What you are getting here is the flavor of horseradish. But none of the heat. I took a bit and was a bit confused by it. As there was a single flavor that was hanging over this whole thing: vinegar.

If you like your hummus with an acidic kick, then yes, this is the one you should be reaching for. If you are looking for heat, then put this back because there is not much here and that's a shame.

The hummus was otherwise well done. It had nice texture and had the flavor of garlic mixed in. But oh, the acidity of vinegar was hanging over this small tub of hummus. Fortunately, it wasn't that expensive at $1.99.

If you were hoping to get a spicy hummus, you can mix your own hot sauce into plain hummus, but please don't reach for this with hopes that you'll get a spicy kick. I can say I've tried this one and it isn't something that I'd reach for again.

Here is the visual run down of what you get if you buy this product:

Would I buy this again? No, I would not buy Trader Joe's Hummus with Freshly Ground Horseradish again. I much preferred the heat of Trader Joe's Sriracha Hummus.

it seems to me, that i saw a recipe with adding sriracha contents with mixing it into humus, whipped,,how bad could that be, if let sand a bit, maybe a dribble of olive oil on top and parsley springs for decoration..

I love it and it is half the calories. Do u think i could add 1/2 horseradish to half storebought hummus and get the same thing? Sirachi too hot for me.

I'd start with a 1 tsp and work your way up. Depending on the brand horse radish can add quite a kick.
