The pros:  Trader Joe's Sriracha Hummus is a nice hummus with a kick.

The cons:  My container was emptied in about two days.

The verdict:  One of the comments that I've gotten on this blog is the fact that I haven't jumped into too many dips or salsas. I'm getting there. Anyways, I love a good hummus. It's one of those dips that you can feel good about eating since it's not a cheese laden dip or one full of saturated fats. Nope, the first ingredient here is chickpeas.

Now, any good hummus has chickpeas, oil, tahini, garlic, and lemon. After that the details vary on what is present. Now, this has a nice texture. This is not too smooth with just enough texture remaining. What makes this product special is that this has sriracha. The ubiquitous and super flavorful type of heat. Now, I do feel that sriracha is everywhere. It's almost over used. In fact, when I attended Alton Brown's Eat Your Science tour, he even was joking about the fact that it does seem to be everywhere. His recommendation was to limit all people to no more than one bottle of the stuff per person per year.

Well, my bottle of sriracha is still in my fridge will all the other condiments sitting in there (and I'm almost positive my refrigerator holds more condiments than actual meals and food). So when this entered my refrigerator, it exited within 48 hours. This had all the flavor and enough of the heat to be addicting to consume. Just when my mouth would recover from the heat, I kept reaching for more.

While the sriracha flavor is the star here, there are some subtle flavors here. Yes, the tahini comes through as does the garlic. The lemon only shines to the extent that there is a brightness in the flavor here. Overall, for $1.99 this is a great dip to reach for whether you are snacking on your own or having a get together. Just be warned, if you like sriracha heat and flavor you will enjoy this.

Would I buy this again?  Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Sriracha Hummus again. It was good hummus that left a pleasant and flavorful burn.

I've been wondering about sriracha, but have been chicken to try it. Not sure why. I made hummus the other day. There are two separate containers, so maybe I could try it in one of them for starters.

Sriracha is surprisingly flavorful in moderation. It's quickly become my favorite hot sauce.

I just did a major shop today, but will put it on my list for next visit to the food emporium. Sounds like a fun enhancement.
