I have to be honest for a second, this is the first year I'm not all that excited about a lot of the Fall products hitting Trader Joe's shelves other than the returning items. And yes, there are some gems, but Trader Joe's Apple Cider Cookies just aren't one of them.
Review and taste
So, these apple cider cookies follow a certain formula: inexpensive crisp cookies packed tightly into a container.
For $3.99 for the size, it seems like a good value.
But, I took one taste and I really didn't like this.
Not one bit.
Apple cookies are a thing. If carefully balanced with various flavors they are really enjoyable.
These just ended up tasting down right strange.
The first one I ended up spitting out. The apple flavor seemed so concentrated and odd, I just couldn't do it.
I had another one a few days later. I didn't find it as overwhelming, but I never found it delicious enough to have more than a bite.
Perhaps the apple flavor was too concentrated for these little cookies where nothing else was allowed to shine through.
If perhaps these were done in a similar spirit like Trader Joe's Maple Leaf Cookies, we would be talking about a winner. But as they are right now, they aren't very good at all.
Totally passable if you are walking by these on the shelves.
Trader Joe's knows how to put a good-tasting cookie together. So if you are looking for something seasonal, reach for the Hot Cocoa Dunkers instead. Those were way better for the calories.
Overall
Would I buy this again? Nope, Trader Joe's Apple Cider Cookies are a hard pass from me. The flavor just seemed to odd for my taste buds to enjoy.

I agree with you. I found these boring when I tasted one at the sample counter. Glad I didn't buy them.

That sucks! It sounded so exciting. I think maybe better idea would be a cider glaze on the cookies.
I was at my TJ's today and they were sampling apple cider donuts. It's pretty good; abit dry but I might use that for bread pudding. Are you planning to review the donuts?

Yup...these didn't interest me in the least from the get-go. Saw them sitting in their tub and went pass.....LOL

I was surprised how much I enjoyed these. Buttery, appley, and the oats added a good texture. Went well with the Harvest Blend tea.

When I first tasted them, I felt pretty much like you did. I crumbled a few on some vanilla ice cream and it was delicious!. I actually love them now and will be buying more. I'm sorry that they are seasonal. I agree with King of Beacon.

My husband and I found them delicious. They are a nice alternative to all the pumpkin flavored items. I’d like to try making a pie crust out of them for a fall pudding pie.

I love these cookies, they were so delicious the first and only time I had them 2019. I can’t find them anywhere now

Hey MTJ! These are seasonal. Rumor is that the fall seasonal items will start coming in on September 7. I hope that helps!
