Review

These 10-ounce bags of gluten-free chips taste like mini caramel pucks with a salty twist. You can bake them into treats, melt them down into a smooth sauce, or swirl them into ice cream for instant dessert-level vibes.

Opening the bag of these baking chips is like getting hit with a sugar rush. Like caramel air freshener in the best possible way. They smell like that caramel drizzle you always want extra of on your ice cream sundae, but in convenient, chip-sized form.

Popping one in my mouth straight from the bag? Oh, these are sweet with a capital S. It's like a soft caramel candy that's been sprinkled with just enough sea salt to make you reach for another. The salt doesn't overpower. It's that perfect little accent that keeps things interesting. I could definitely snack on these by the handful. (No shame in that game.)

Now, let's talk baking. Fold these chips into cookie dough, and suddenly you're the hero at the bake sale. They melt into gooey caramel pockets that add just the right amount of chew and richness. Brownies? Oh, please. I sprinkled them in, and the result was an ooey-gooey masterpiece. Basically, they make everything you bake feel fancy like you planned it that way all along.

One thing to keep in mind: they are sweet. Like, sweet-sweet. If you're looking for a delicate caramel nuance, these might be too much. But if you're the type who thinks "too sweet" isn't a real thing, you're going to love them.

The only downside? They're seasonal. So when they hit the shelves, it's like a caramel chip stampede. If you see them, grab two bags. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Maybe someone at Trader Joe's read my review and suggested packaging changes. To which I say thank you since 2021's bag was nearly unreadable.

How to Use

  • Cookies: Fold them into your favorite cookie dough for gooey caramel pockets.
  • Brownies: Sprinkle generously on top or mix into the batter for extra decadence.
  • Ice Cream Topping: Melt and drizzle for instant caramel sauce.
  • Snack Attack: Eat them straight from the bag-no judgment.

Creative Uses

  • Mix into Granola Bars: Add a pop of sweetness and chew.
  • Top Oatmeal: Stir into warm oats for caramel heaven.
  • DIY Snack Mix: Combine with pretzels and nuts for a sweet-and-salty treat.

FAQs about Trader Joe's Caramel Sea Salt Baking Chips

The following are commonly asked questions about this product

Are these gluten-free?

Yes! They're made without wheat or gluten but always check the package as this could change.

They do-so they're not vegan-friendly.

Are they too sweet to eat on their own?

They're sweet, but if you're a caramel lover, they're totally snackable.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe's Caramel Sea Salt Baking Chips are the ultimate sweet-and-salty treat that takes your baking game to the next level. Whether you're stirring them into cookies or sneaking a handful straight from the bag, they're bound to disappear fast. If you spot them on the shelf, grab a few because these chips won't be around for long. If you missed out then you can always check on Amazon for third-party sellers.

I agree about the packaging. I was looking for them and they were hard to find. But they are delish right out of the ugly bag. I've started the recipe on the TJ's website with cocoa and added a little espresso. The dough has to be refrigerated for an hour before baking so I am anxiously awaiting the finished product.

Hi Kathy! Unfortunately not. You can probably check amazon to see if there are any 3rd party sellers who have them.
