The pros: Trader Joe's Chicken Taquitos are quick freezer food that are only 110 calories per taquito
The cons: These are pretty close to flavorless. You will need to get creative with a sauce or toppings in order for this to have flavor.
The verdict: There are somethings at Trader Joe's that leave me wondering. This was one of them. I wonder why they are still in the freezer aisle. While I enjoyed the black bean and cheese variety, I did not like these chicken taquitos.
First off, I do like the calorie count. The directions are clear and resulted in crispy taquitos. However, the chicken on the inside lacked any sort of flavor. Not that seasoning wasn't added, but it did not seem to come through on this product at all. This was one of the most bland items I've had.
The strongest taste present in these taquito was the fried tortilla shell. That tortilla shell was pretty much the only flavor that was present and texture for that matter. The chicken almost tasted like it was shredded to a fine chicken powder in a food processor. It had neither taste nor added any significant texture. This would need a pile of toppings and/or sauces in order for this to be an enjoyable meal.
For $4.49 you are getting 10 taquitos, but I would rather see the freezer space be given to a product that has some really good flavor to it. As for me, I won't be repurchasing this item.

Would I buy this again? No, I would not buy Trader Joe's Chicken Taquitos again. They just lacked flavor.

I'm writing this comment as I am eating a chicken toquito from Trader Joe's- the reason I searched this article up was because I was shocked at how much flavor it lacked. I'll never repurchase 🙁 I've had much better toquitos from the freezer section from Costco

Hey Nanxy! I thought the exact thing, and yes I've had taquitos from Costco and I couldn't agree with you more. They are so much better elsewhere. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I too googled these to see if I did something wrong... They are horrible. May as well be eating tortilla wrapped mashed potatoes (with no butter or salt) Thank God I have some Taco Bell Diablo sauce at home, so at least I can choke these down and not be hungry

Hey Jon! They weren't my favorite either. I was shocked how bland they were. I thought the black bean ones were better, but I haven't seen those in a long time. Thanks for stopping by and sharing!

What?? Confused and disappointed by the negativity here. I eat these in bulk on the regular.
The flavor is there, it's just very subtle! If you don't got a nuanced palette then put a lil hot sauce on there, mis amigos!

“They are like mashed potatoes” is exactly what I was thinking. I’m eating them right now and even with Sriracha and cheese on them they lack everything ! Texture, taste, everything !!
I Googled them just now because I didn’t believe it was chicken at all. Just Terrible !

Hey Mary! I miss the old bean and cheese taquitos. Those were so much better than these. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing! (I wished we both had better experiences)
Zane says
These are completely flavorless. No nuance, real or imagined, could save them.

I agree with you! I loved the rolled chicken tacos at taco bell and was hoping these would be something comparable. Nope. Absolutely horrible. It just tasted like boiled chicken and salt. My husband hated them too. I've never returned anything to Trader Joe's but i might have to because no one is going to eat the rest.

Hey Sidra! I wish you and I had a better experience with these. Thanks again for stopping by.

I wasn’t even thinking of taste or lack there of when I took my first then second bite. It was the consistency of the chicken! Was it processed to a smooth consistency and piped into the taquito shell? How awful. How did this get past the Joes tasters who are usually very good at picking product? One word…YUCK!
