New products make me happy. Especially when those new products just happen to be in the health and beauty aisle of Trader Joe's. This week Trader Joe's hit us with not one, but two new items: this cleansing oil and a Cucumber and Citrus Face and Body Wipes. Since my skin needs a bit of hydrating this far into winter, I decided to start with the cleansing oil.
Review
If you suffer from dry skin or winter dry skin a moisturizing product has quite a bit of appeal this time of year. Moisturizer is a priority if not body butter and lotion.
So if I can at least feel less itchy and dry after a hot shower, then I'll happily embrace any product that can help get that done.
Now, the packaging of Trader Joe's Cleansing Oil is nothing fancy. It will literally blend into the rest of the products on the shelf, especially the Jojoba Oil. And what the packaging lacks in prettiness, it makes up for in performance.
This is quite different from say Trader Joe's Ultra Hydrating Gel Moisturizer. It makes the promise of being ultra-moisturizing. This is labeled as more of a nourish with the fine print of "luxuriously smooth and moisturizing."
For those of you who aren't into fragrances, this is quite muted even to my sensitive nose. There is a subtle fragrance but nothing that stands out or makes you feel like you are sniffing almond-scented furniture polish either.
Nope, this is a muted almond fragrance at most. And a really unique shower experience.
The oil that hits your skin or hands turns to a white soapy substance that rinses off nicely. While you are in the shower your body feels really nice.
After a good towel drying, you'll still feel hydrated but not oily. I think the best way to describe this is balanced.
The dry spots were banished, but I didn't feel as oily as I do after using Trader Joe's Lavander Salt Scrub. Would I maybe still want to use some lotion afterward? Perhaps, but maybe only every other evening.
However, just be mindful after using this, you'll want to make sure to rinse your shower out well as any residue of this product will leave behind a slick surface.

Overall
For $6.99 this isn't the cheapest product on shelves, but a little goes a long way here too. However, if you are allergic to nuts I'd skip this one.
Would I buy this again? Trader Joe's Cleansing Oil gets a yes from me. This is a really nice addition to an ever-expanding health and beauty aisle that has some real sleeper hits to it.

Glad TJ's is expanding more of new health & beauty items. Would be nice if they offer tea tree tingle in travel sizes.

Great review. This is one beauty product I will buy. In shower oil type moisturizers are costly. Check the price of a comparable bottle of Curel etc. This is a great deal.

just purchased TJ's body cleansing oil today and I love it! You are right, the fragrance was very soft and didn't leave me feeling greasy. I gave it 4 stars because its a bit spendy, but learned it can be used sparingly. FYI< I didn't care for the lemongrass oil--that left my skin feeling greasy and it was too fragrant...

Hey Kelly! Thanks for your thoughts on this. It is expensive for Trader Joe's standards, but if you go to a different store some other similar products are much more expensive. I reviewed the lemongrass oil. It reminded me of lemon candy which definitely isn't for everyone. Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts on this!

I am so intrigued by this product. When I first saw it, I immediately though of the L'occitane almond oil body wash and this even works the same as that one, but at a much lower price point. I can't wait to try it!

If you get a chance to try it I'd love to hear how it compares!

Absolutely!! I'll look for it at my TJs when I go!

It is expensive. My skin felt moist after my shower. I moisturized after the shower. My complaint is that the fragrance is strong and offensive. I am sensative to some fragrances and this is one of them. Unfortunately I will be returning it.
