The pros:Â Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups does not disappoint in making the classic peanut butter cup, rich dark chocolate that isn't waxy or too sweet. Chocolate is a nice contrast to the sweet peanut butter filling.
The cons: Â I might take some adjustment to having dark chocolate with this.
The verdict: Â For $0.99 for the small bag in the checkout aisle I was surprise how good these are. They do sell these in a larger size which now knowing that I ate this whole bag in one sitting, I'll probably only buy the small bag. I'm not going to compare these to going to a fine chocolate store as that's not a fair comparison, especially for what I paid for this. The best thing to compare this to is a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. I don't know if it's age or the recipe has changed over time, but the chocolate in a Reese's seems less chocolatey and more waxy and sweet. It's not a terrible thing as the peanut butter filling is the highlight of that treat. That's not the case here. The chocolate is very assertive and is a nice dark chocolate that isn't overly sweet. My biggest concern here was that I would miss the familiar Reese's peanut butter filling taste. Truth is this had more of a peanut butter taste and I liked it better that a Reese's. I know there is a milk chocolate one and I'm positive that there will be a review of that in the coming weeks. This is worth a try.

We love these and frequently pick up a package or 2.. Neither of us care for Reese's, for some reason, but these PB cups are great...
I love these chocolates. But if you like the peanut filling flavor of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup but wish it were more chocolatey, you can have the best of both worlds, since Reese's makes a dark chocolate version of their peanut butter cup. It's worth checking out!
I had no idea. Thanks for the recommendation!
I love peanut butter cups, but unfortunately Huntsville, Alabama does not have Trader's Joe. Have you tried Justin's peanut butter cups?
I've never heard of Justin's peanut butter cups. Which stores sell them?
They sell them at Kroger's, Whole Foods, Earth Fare, etc. Pretty much any grocery stores
I'll have to look for them. Thanks for the heads up!
It is my pleasure 🙂
