The pros: Â Trader Joe's Joe Joe's Truffles are found in the new items end cap. They are sweet, tasty and the middle is very light.
The cons: Â They added vitamins and minerals to the bottom of the nutritional label to make you feel better about consuming these. The sprinkles did not add much here.
The verdict: Â For $3.99 you are getting a dozen truffles that are decorated for spring. What makes these truffles different is the fact that they are made from Trader Joe's cookies that are reminiscent of Oreos. Some truffle fans may prefer the bitter taste of dark chocolate.
These however, contain dark chocolate, but are on the sweeter side in terms of taste. I'm not sure if the sprinkles on the top have something to do with that. The sprinkles, while pretty, don't add much other than sweetness and color to these truffles. That's a shame too. I think these would have been a touch better if the dark chocolate coating was a bit thicker and a bit more bitter because what you have here is sweet on sweet.
The sweet on sweet pairing is really my only complaint here. After I bit into the coating I was greeted by a light tasting center. That surprised me a bit as I expected it to be dense and heavy. I figured the filling on Joe Joe's cookie might make this thick.
However, I was wrong. It was light and airy as if someone had whipped a bit of air into the filling. It was sweet without being tooth achingly sweet. I bought these expecting to share them with someone else, however, they are now hidden away in my kitchen in only a place where I know they will not be located.
These are inexpensive, so don't expect these to be luxurious or the best truffles out there. They are sweet and make you feel like you are a kid again eating a chocolate covered crushed Trader Joe's equivalent to an Oreo.

Would I buy this again? Â My taste buds say yes, but my heart, thighs, a sugar levels tell me I shouldn't. Sadly, at 100 calories each these are tasty and hard to resist. I remember a distinct conversation back when I reviewed Trader Joe's Sumatra Coffee Brownies and the staff was commenting on the calorie count. While I didn't hear anyone comment on these, I'm sure they would have said something about this too. Sometimes, the higher the calorie count, the better something will (likely) taste. Trader Joe's Joe Joe's Truffles are pretty tasty. If they aren't seasonal, then yes I might have to pick up another package of these.
