The pros:  Trader Joe's Joe's Dark Coffee Squares are for you if you enjoy your coffee black and have a sweet tooth. Trader Joe's Dark Coffee Squares might satisfy both.

The cons:  If you don't care for the taste of black coffee, this isn't for you.

The verdict:  For $2.99  you get a bag containing just over a dozen chocolate squares. This is one of those rare product where the chocolate is not pronounced as the coffee. The coffee flavor reminds me of a dark French Pressed coffee flavor. It hits you right away. While the ingredients list ground coffee, the texture here is completely smooth. While the package said Trader Joe's Dark, I'm pretty sure that refers to the coffee and not the chocolate.

The chocolate here is sweet but hard to get past the coffee flavor. Usually chocolate and coffee play well together. One usually highlights the other. In this case the chocolate was the medium for you try their coffee. I personally wasn't crazy for this and I'll find someone else to finish the bag for me. The coffee is very strong on this one. If dark coffee (and chocolate) is your thing then this is worth a try.

Here is the visual run down of what you get if you purchase this product:

The bag:Trader Joe's Dark Coffee Squares

The nutritional information:Trader Joe's Dark Coffee Squares

The ingredients and allergy information:Trader Joe's Dark Coffee Squares

How Trader Joe's describes this product:Trader Joe's Dark Coffee Squares

Out of the package you get:  Trader Joe's Dark Coffee Squares

Would I buy this again?  For me, Trader Joe's Dark Coffee Squares is a no. It was way too strong of a coffee flavor and I prefer my chocolate stronger than any other flavor. If you are a coffee and a chocolate lover then you might really like these.

Definitely gonna look for these! Sounds great for a treat while driving on a trip. My daily after lunch "dessert" is a smidge of Trader Joe's dark chocolate with a glass of iced coffee with milk, so this sounds perfect to me!

    Virtual hugs,

    Judie

There is cocoa butter, not chocolate in these. Big difference. Just saying. I love these.

Actually, according to the article below both cocoa butter and powder are from the same bean used in the chocolate making process: http://www.livescience.com/36626-cocoa-butter-chocolate-lotion-benefits.html

And Wikipedia assures us that some chocolate flavor is present: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocoa_butter?wprov=sfla1

And white chocolate is actually truly chocolate when it contains just cocoa butter:

      Hope this clarifies some terminology.

Hi John! I'm not affiliated in any way with Trader Joe's so you'll need to reach out to them. Sometimes you can find them through third party sellers on Amazon. But I dont sell anything here. Thanks for asking.
