Exfoliating doesn't have to mean splurging on a $70 skincare product. Enter: Trader Joe's Microdermabrasion Scrub, a $5.99 facial exfoliator promising smoother skin, a polished glow, and a spa-like experience at home, minus the spa price tag.

Review

I love a good shower scrub. I really do like Trader Joe's Lavender Salt Scrub. But the scent and texture are way too intense for my face or probably anyone else's for that matter.

At first glance, the packaging is simple-nothing flashy, just a basic squeeze tube with a blue label. But inside is where it gets interesting.

The scrub has a thick, creamy texture loaded with fine exfoliating crystals. Unlike many drugstore scrubs that use large, scratchy particles (looking at you, apricot scrub), this one feels like a professional-grade exfoliator. It's gritty enough to feel effective but not harsh or abrasive, provided you use a gentle hand.

When I first used it, I applied it to damp skin, gently massaged it in for about 60 seconds, then rinsed. The results? Noticeably smoother, softer skin after just one use. My skin felt clean, but not stripped, and makeup applied more evenly afterward.

If you have sensitive skin, you'll want to go easy with it-maybe once or twice a week. The crystals are potent, and overdoing it can lead to irritation. But used correctly, it's one of the best exfoliators I've found in this price range.

This isn't going to replace a professional microdermabrasion session, but for an under-$6 product that's always stocked at your local Trader Joe's, it's surprisingly impressive.

How to Use

  1. Cleanse your face and leave skin damp.
  2. Apply a small amount of scrub (pea-sized is enough).
  3. Gently massage in circular motions for 30-60 seconds.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
  5. Pat dry and follow with your favorite moisturizer or serum.

Tip: Use 1-2 times per week. Avoid broken or irritated skin, and always follow up with sunscreen during the day.

FAQs about Trader Joe's Microdermabrasion Scrub

The following are commonly asked questions about this product;

Is this scrub good for sensitive skin?

It can be, but use caution. The exfoliating particles are fine but potent-start slow to avoid irritation.

Does it contain microbeads?

No. It uses silica (a naturally derived mineral) for exfoliation-not plastic beads.

Is there a strong scent?

It has a light, clean fragrance-nothing too strong or lingering.

Where can I buy Trader Joe's Microdermabrasion Scrub?

This is not currently a seasonal product and can be purchased at Trader Joe's. This can also be found through third-party sellers on Amazon.com.

Final Thoughts

Trader Joe's Microdermabrasion Scrub is one of those under-the-radar beauty products that punches way above its price point. If you're looking for an exfoliator that delivers real results without breaking the bank, this is one to grab on your next Trader Joe's run.

Just remember-it's powerful stuff, so treat it like a treatment, not a daily cleanser. Use it wisely, and your skin will thank you.

Love this scrub! I have mildly sensitive skin which tolerates this product well. I struggle with clogged pores and after a week of using this daily ~approx 1 min each day, I see a huge visible difference. My pores are clear and look better than if I had just had a facial. I use a daily moisturizer but find this is not drying. Net, net, this is my favorite skin care product in years especially for the price!

I stopped using similar products because I didn't notice much difference on my face. For its price, I decided to try this product. If it didn't work out, the price didn't make it difficult to throw away. After the 2nd use, I saw a noticeable improvement in the texture of my face. It looked fresh and clean. I have some hyperpigmentation on my face but the result of using this product softened it. I.sticking to this product!!
