Well here is something I’m happy to say, while Trader Joe’s has been hitting us with quite a few snacks I am very happy to report that the health and beauty section keeps getting new items. Best of all there hasn’t been a dud in the ones I’ve tried so far. This week alone has brought us not one, but two new items: Trader Joe’s Microdermabrasion Scrub and Trader Joe’s Ultra Hydrating Eye Cream.
I love a good shower scrub. I really do like Trader Joe’s Lavender Salt Scrub. But the scent and texture are way too intense of my face or probably anyone else’s for that matter.
So, for the most part, I’ve been using various facial scrubs without sticking to just one brand. Mostly because they are quite gritty and when you rub them on your skin it feels like you are being sandblasted. Usually, the warning sign of that is when they recommend using it only once or twice a week.
So for $4.99 I decided to give this small tube a try. It was nearly hidden in the new items and the beauty aisle since it is so small and almost non-descript in terms of packaging.
At only 2 ounces it is small, so you might have to look more carefully than usual. At least the body oil and wipes were easy to spot on a shelf full of new items to try.
If you manage to find it you’ll be treated to a scrub that doesn’t feel like a scrub. It doesn’t come out of the tube gritty. Only once you rub it in do you feel the slightest sensation of a scrub. And it doesn’t have much in the way of a fragrance to speak to either.
It is pulverized pumice stone that gives this the grit. But it is the finest grit I felt in a long time. As an added bonus my skin didn’t feel stripped by this product either. Now, please don’t confuse that with it leaves your skin moisturized. It doesn’t seem to hydrate or strip your skin. It just leaves your skin with about the same moisture just far more smooth.
Now, obviously you are not limited to using this just on your face. You can use this elsewhere. But being the tube is so small, I’d hesitate to make this a full-body scrub. Most of my body from the neck down can handle the salt scrub.
But if I’m being honest, this was probably hands down my favorite item I’ve tried so far this year. I’ve been using it for several days with no signs of breakouts. Best of all it makes me want to ditch the rest of my facial scrubs for good.
Best of all, this is one of the best quality scrubs I’ve tried for the price.
Would I buy this again? Trader Joe’s Microdermabrasion Scrub is an ecstatic yes from me. It left my skin smooth, was relatively inexpensive and didn’t feel like I was blasting my face with sandpaper at any point.

Love this scrub! I have mildly sensitive skin which tolerates this product well. I struggle with clogged pores and after a week of using this daily ~approx 1 min each day, I see a huge visible difference. My pores are clear and look better than if I had just had a facial. I use a daily moisturizer but find this is not drying. Net, net, this is my favorite skin care product in years especially for the price!
