The pros:Â Trader Joe's Mild Pico de Gallo Salsa is perfect for parties or as a healthy snack.
The cons: Â Can be a bit watery and is very perishable.
The verdict: Â I love a good dip. I also love chips. One thing I haven't done a good job with so far with this blog is getting to lots of dips or salsa. Hopefully, I'll try to balance things out. Recently, I purchased Trader Joe's Mild Pico de Gallo Salsa. Now, Trader Joe's does offer a hot variety, but I like to start with mild and work my way up.
There are a number of both fresh and canned dips at Trader Joe's. This one happens to be in the refrigerated section. When you open the container you see nothing but fresh ingredients. Likewise, the ingredients list reads the same way. It's all the items that you would normally find in a pico de gallo except for maybe the lemon juice. Normally I've seen lime used, but it's for the same purpose. It brightens up the ingredients used here.
For being in a plastic container, the tomatoes had good texture as did the onions. The jalapenos added a nice kick. Cilantro and garlic powder added a nice flavor here as well. This is a dip that will require a sturdy chip. Best of all, for $2.99 this is a time saver if you are having company. If you are enjoying this by yourself then this is a low calorie snack at 10 calories per serving. It's fresh, summery, but available all year round. I'd buy this again.
