recently reviewed a different flavor of Toaster Pastries. I started with Trader Joe's Organic Frosted Brown Sugar because that was the most familiar flavor from my childhood. Maybe that wasn't the best place to start. Now, obviously these are a spin on the more commercially available Pop-Tarts. But they are done Trader Joe's way.
These are organic and reasonably priced at $2.69. Best of all, they actually taste more natural.
Now, if I had to criticize a few things about this product its the serious lack of frosting.
If I were a kid, I might not have eaten these and picked Pop-Tarts over them. I can't imagine that the frosting would cost that much. My toaster pastry was seriously naked on some parts. However, the sprinkles added some much-appreciated texture here.
I couldn't detect a flavor in them other than sugar, but I just wish that there was more of it.
And at 200 calories each, I'm not crazy about the fact that they are packaged two in a pack. It almost begs you to sit and eat both. But if you are going to eat it, yes, heating these is the way to go. The heat brings out their fruity flavor.
My husband even commented that he actually felt like he was eating real fruit. It was nice to see that there was puree so far up the list of ingredients. Now what percentage of this product is puree is not mentioned. Regardless, this had good taste and flavor. Perhaps it's not a flavor I would have liked as a kid, but it's one that I appreciate as an adult.
If you can't get to Trader Joe's, you can always find these on Amazon through third-party sellers.
Would I buy this again? I would buy Trader Joe's Organic Frosted Cherry Pomegranate Toaster Pastries again. If you enjoy Pop-Tarts, you'll probably like Trader Joe's spin on that same classic toaster pastry. It's worth a try.

Your reviews of their toaster pastries have been interesting to me. What I actually PREFER about them is the lesser amount of frosting. In fact, I'd be happy if they didn't frost them at all. And the brown sugar cinnamon is a wonderful addition to the line. Just wait until the pumpkin ones come out 🙂

I think it's a throw back to my childhood. Either way, I agree about the brown sugar and I can honestly say I've tried all three and everyone tells me the pumpkin is something special. Can't wait. Thanks for stopping by!
