I remember as a kid going to this one restaurant. Getting to dessert was always the mission of going out to dinner, at least at this one restaurant. You see, all year-long they sold candy cane ice cream. It did not matter the season. As a kid, this was pure magic, because it wasn't the typical green mint ice cream.

Taste
Nope, it was pink with actual chunks of candy cane mixed right in. It was amazing. Since then, I've only found one commercially available brand that comes close: Dreyer's Peppermint.
Again, another seasonal product that is found one day and gone the next. However, when the Holiday Fearless Flyer landed, I got excited to see peppermint ice cream on the list of seasonal items.
Now, this is just peppermint ice cream. No candy cane here. If you ask me, it would have been better if they had it that way. But they did not ask me. Regardless, this peppermint did not remind me of mouthwash at all.
The peppermint is a lot more muted than I was expecting. If you enjoy the usual Hold the Cone! variety and you embrace peppermint, then you are in for a treat here.
But there is a noticeable difference.
The cone is chocolate and the coating is unsweetened chocolate. If you haven't tried the Hold the Cone! line yet, then it's pretty ingenious. Not only is the top covered in a thin layer of chocolate, but they are also aware that cones leak from other places. So be ready for a nice-sized chunk of chocolate that plugs the bottom of the cone.
For $3.29 for 8 mini ice cream cones (prior to 2021 they were priced at $2.99), this is another solid choice to reach for. If you don't care for peppermint at all, then skip them. While the peppermint is a bit more muted than I would like, this does end up having a peppermint patty quality to it.
A good amount of chocolate with sweet peppermint. I personally liked them, and yes, though they would have been better as a candy cane ice cream. However, that did not stop me from eating the first box I purchased.
I am hoping to find a few more before they are gone for the season. A great seasonal choice that is priced well. Best of all, it's a portion-controlled dessert that you can feel (somewhat) good about eating since each cone is only about 87 calories each.
Overall
For me, this is an item I stock up on each and every holiday season. These are absolutely delicious and are my favorite pairing of Hold the Cone Flavors.
Would I buy this again? Yes, these peppermint-flavored mini cones are delicous.
