Confession time: One food-related item that I've made a point not to publish or try is yogurt. To date, the only yogurt products I've put up reviews for are the ones where the yogurt is buried with another ingredient. Why? Of all the dairy items I consume, I detest yogurt. So why would I try something like Trader Joe's Strawberry Greek Frozen Yogurt Parfait Bars?
Taste
It's new. It also tastes pretty good. Not just pretty good for yogurt, but pretty good in general.
Now, this isn't an overly tangy type of bar. Nope, this is way heavier on the strawberry flavor than any of the yogurt flavor that usually has me making faces.
When I say it's heavy handed with the strawberry, I'm talking about the way I made strawberry milk as a kid. At least 25% of the glass was strawberry syrup, the rest of was milk.
A similar ratio seems to be at play here. The bar is intensely pink. I don't know who edited the photo on the box, but I can assure you that my bars aren't that washed out despite the fact that I too edit my photos to correct for lighting and other minor issues.
Despite that the shape is correct, but the color is way off, what you have here is a parfait that was heavy handed with the fruit, a handful of granola, and some greek yogurt that were shoved in to molds.
Now, unlike most parfaits where the granola is crisp and crunch, the granola here isn't quite as crisp and is really here to add an extra textural element. For me, this was kind of the weak point in the bar, but no deal breaker either.
Overall
But what I like about these the most is the calorie count. Despite the fact they feel pretty sweet, they've kept most of the sugar in check as they did the calorie count. They kept these bars at a nice even number of 100. Nothing that is going to ruin a diet.
For $2.99 for four bars, Trader Joe's Strawberry Greek Frozen Yogurt Parfait Bars were pretty good. And that is coming from a yogurt hater.
Did you try it? Let me know what you think in the comments section!

It's a nice way to take it on the go without the spoon! Perfect way to cool down in the summer heat. It would be nice if they coated it in granola.

Hey Alek! I couldn't agree more. I think I would have enjoyed that more. It would have reminded me a bit of the strawberry shortcake bars I used to enjoy as a kid. Thanks so much for stopping by!

I was wondering why I never saw any yogurt reviews here! (The guava passionfruit greek yogurt they have out now is SO good- it's too bad you don't like yogurt!). I just tried one of these bars last night and I really liked it. I agree that the granola bits were a bit of an odd texture in the bar, but not unpleasant. These bars reminded me of a dessert we used to have at summer holiday get-togethers. I don't recall the exact name but it was a crushed pretzel/nut crust, a layer of a sweetened cream cheese and then a layer of frozen strawberries and jello. Sounds odd, but it was good, and these bars remind me of that (without all the calories).

Hey Paige! I know it sounds weird but I love almost all things dairy, yogurt for whatever reason doesn't do it for me. So, yes in case you were wondering, there is the answer. I'm glad you shared your thoughts on these and your food memories as well. I don't think that dessert sounds odd at all. Anyways, as always thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to stop by and share!

Oh I am so interested in these! Costco used to have some Greek yogurt bars coated in chocolate and I was slightly obsessed, but they no longer have them. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye open for these.

I originally passed by these because of the granola. I wish they had gone with big strawberry pieces or mini chocolate chips. I still might give him a go though
