Trader Joe's Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake

Taste

No weird flavors here. Strawberry swirl cheesecake in its most simple form.

There are no strawberries mixed into the cheesecake itself. Rather the topping seems a bit more like strawberry jam swirled on top before baking.

It is a pretty cheesecake and I'll be honest, I wished the packaging made this stand out a bit more from all the other freezer yummies.

But out of the box, there is a very presentable cheesecake: no cracks with enough strawberry to not overwhelm.

There is a crust made from graham crackers at its base. The cheesecake filling is nice, smooth, and has the pleasant sweetness that sweetened cream cheese should have.

The rest of the cheesecake is basic cheesecake. Well done and pleasantly dense. This isn't quite as light as say a cheesecake from Juniors.

The swirl adds a little something extra but this doesn't overwhelm in terms of strawberry flavor.

And let's face it: this is a pretty cheesecake. The flavor is solid and would be lovely to bring to someone's home. Or have people over. Like Golden Girls and talk about your problems.

All you need to prepare this is to give it time to defrost.

The packaging

My biggest issue was the packaging. It is so blah and doesn't really make you want to pick this item up. The box is also a pain to open as well. I felt like I was going to mess up the cheesecake in an effort to get this very glued-together box open.

Within the box, the cheesecake is shrink-wrapped in plastic.

Overall

Otherwise, if you are looking for a solid dessert, nothing exotic but one that is very reasonably priced at $7.99, this is a solid buy.

Would I buy this again? If I were having company over then I would keep a Trader Joe's Strawberry Swirl Cheesecake on hand just in case.
