So in today's episode of products, you don't need in your life, but impulse gets the better of you I present to you Trader Joe's Aromatherapy Mood Odyssey.
This isn't Trader Joe's first go with an essential oil kit. A couple of years back they had a wintertime essential oil diffuser set. That set has since made a comeback and is now priced a touch higher than it was originally released at.
The packaging
But regardless, essential oils aren't cheap. And here is a rollerball set that is priced under $10.
The packaging is nice. There is outer packaging and inner purse-sized packaging as well.
The inner packaging also includes instructions on how to choose your path to aromatherapy bliss. I guess they are helping with your odyssey there.
Each of the rollerballs isn't categorized by the aroma. It's categorized by need.
So you ask yourself quietly, "What do I need right now?"
Well, my answer is often sleeping (I do have a baby under 1 who is teething).
The fragrances
Sleep is a lavender fragrance but not in the same way as dryer sheets. This does have other notes as well. There is a hint of rosemary and citrus as well. It reminded me of the old pillow mists I used to buy from Bath and Body Works. I'm pretty sure they had one that was labeled sleep and this seems pretty similar to what I remember as that bottle is long gone.
So what do I need beyond sleep? Well to stay awake.
Awake actually doesn't seem to have much of a fragrance at all. It seemed more like oil that it waiting to be rubbed into my wrist rather than an essential oil with fragrance. Kind of a bummer. When I read through the ingredients I guess the fragrance was supposed to be eucalyptus. However, that is one of those fragrances that runs the risk of reminding everyone of Vicks Vaporub. This one was way too subtle for me to like.
Relax is up next on my list of needs and is actually my favorite out of the bunch. The notes on this were peppermint with a hint of lavender. It wasn't so minty that you smelled like a Starlite mint candy. But it was subtle and was a nice pick me up.
Last was bliss. This fragrance is primarily bergamot with a touch of citrus. Not a bad fragrance, but not my favorite. Bergamot I also tend to associate with laundry. And let's be honest. Laundry brings bliss to very few. And to me, laundry is the never-ending story.
In terms of the fragrances lasting the most assertive fragrance was relax with lingered for about an hour. On the shorter end of things, awake seemed to dissipate almost immediately.
Overall
Overall, this is something that will last a long time. The oils do leave your skin feeling nice and it is cute overall. It would make a nice gift for someone. There was only one rollerball I wasn't wild about. But in the end, they do make a nice spot moisturizer for your hands, arms, or wrists.
For $9.99 or about $2.50 each these are pretty reasonable.
Would I buy Trader Joe's Aromatherapy Mood Odyssey again? While this was a nice set, I wasn't wild for all the fragrances. The packaging is cute, but I'm not obsessed enough with it enough to give this a repurchase.

It's a cute package but I would like to see edible food grade essential oils so we can use it in cooking.

I've purchased plenty of essential oils and blends over the last few years, but am never 100% sure about their effectiveness. But I swear the TJ's Sleep formula helps me sleep nearly every time I've used it.
