Let’s be real. When I go to Trader Joe’s, I’m usually on a mission for cheese, frozen snacks, and whatever seasonal thing they’ve managed to stuff pumpkin spice into. But every now and then, I make the mistake of walking down the beauty aisle.
You know the one. It’s tiny, tucked next to the supplements and vitamin gummies, and looks like it’s trying to be low-key fancy without threatening Whole Foods.
But here’s the thing: some of it is shockingly good. Some of it… well, let’s just say my skin still hasn’t forgiven me.
So I did what any slightly obsessive Trader Joe’s blogger would do. I bought every skincare, body care, and beauty product I could get my hands on and tested them. I've complied a list of all the products I've tried and reviewed over the years to bring you this Best of Trader Joe's Beauty list to save you time and money.

The Best Trader Joe’s Beauty Products (Ranked and Roasted in No Particular Order)

Trader Joe's Daily Facial Sunscreen
A pretty good sorta like Super Goop Unseen Sunscreen without the price tag. Makes for a fantastic primer and provides good broad spectrum protection from UV rays.
Would I repurchase? Who am I kidding? I keep two of these on hand. This is one of the best overall picks. Like MVP kind of good.
Honorable mentions: Trader Joe's Mineral Daily Sunscreen, Trader Joe's Invisible Gel Body Sunscreen.

Trader Joe's Marula Facial Oil
The non-pore-clogging oil is lightweight and absorbs quickly. Perfect for after exfoliating. It is also significantly cheaper than the marula oil sold at Sephora or other beauty retailers.
Would I repurchase? Yes, especially in winter.

Trader Joe's Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream
Comes in a bunch of varieties based on the season. It’s thick but not greasy, has a soft shea scent, and actually lasts through one or two hand washings. I keep this one in my bag, my car, and probably next to every sink, too.
Varieties include: Strawberry Lemon, Pumpkin, and the Winter Seasonal Gift variety, as well as the 12 Days of Beauty, although fragrance often rotates by the year.
Would I repurchase? Yes, one is by every sink and nightstand.

Trader Joe's Scrubs
Maybe TLC didn't want No Scrubs, with Trader Joe's Scrubs are always welcome. These exfoliate and hydrate all in one. They might be sugar or they might be salt, but the both get the job done.
Varieties offered include: Lavender Salt, Strawberry Lemon Sugar, Grapefruit Ginger, Pumpkin, Candy Cane, and Brazil Nut.
Honorable Mention: Less abrasive and actually made for your face is the Microderm Facial Scrub and perfect for removing dead skin.
Would I repurchase? Yes, while Lavender Salt is offered year round, you'll find me picking up each seasonal variety.

Trader Joe's Retinol Night Serum
Lightweight, non-greasy, and layers well under moisturizer. It’s no miracle worker, but for under $10? It’s a solid gateway into retinol if you’re 30+ and pretending you still sleep 8 hours. You'll want to keep a good moisturizer on hand as this one causes peeling.
Would I repurchase? Yes, with tempered expectations.

Trader Joe's Bath Fizzers
If you are looking for a Lush show with Trader Joe's prices, then look elsewhere. You won't find it here. These are good for the price, but nothing special. They've sold the Bath Fizzers as a gift set and the seasonal Peony variety.
Would I repurchase? No, these are usually one and done for me. They also tend to be seasonal.

Trader Joe's Deodorant
All natural and unscented? Well, by the end of a week, I was a little too natural-smelling, too. It went on way too hard and there weren't enough redeeming qualities in this to keep using it.
Would I repurchase? Not even if it came with a coupon.

Trader Joe's Body Butter
Whatever the variety or formula this usually knocks it out of the park in terms of hydration. Parched skin be gone. Fragrances vary by season. One unscented variety is sold year round. All are thick, rich, and affordably priced.
Seasonal varieties include Pumpkin, Cacay Oil, Brazil Nut, Candy Cane (with shimmer), and Vitamin C.
Would I repurchase? You better believe it.

Trader Joe's Lip Balm
So here comes a mixed bag of results. The now-discontinued Trader Joe's Lip Balm Virtuoso was top tier. The holiday gift set is mid. The SPF sunscreen has a metallic aftertaste and is a dud.
Would I repurchase? Not until they resurrect the Lip Balm Virtuoso.

Trader Joe's Hair Oil
Have some frizz? Don't worry Trader Joe's has two solid products to do you a solid in the flyaway department: Trader Joe's Hair Oil and Trader Joe's Shea Butter and Coconut Oil Hair Serum. Both are rockstars is doing what they promise.
One to pass on: If you are sensitive to fragrances, then please pass on the Leave In Conditioner. It was so floral for so long I didn't enjoy the results.
Honorable mention also goes to Trader Joe's Hair Mask, which is also another fantastic option.
Would I repurchase? Yes, without hesitation.

Trader Joe's Dry Shampoo
Hate the aerosol or the massive white splotches that aerosol dry shampoos are known for? While there is no aerosol here, this bottle serves up some occupational therapy as you'll need quite a few pumps to do the same as the canned variety. Dark-haired besties, just know this isn't as visible when you use it. It wasn't the best I've tried, but wasn't bad either. It is well-priced
Would I repurchase? This is a take it or leave it item for me.

Trader Joe's Wipes
Two types of wipes exist: Cucumber and Citrus Facial and Body Wipes and Micellar Wipes. Both are just ok. Just wasteful. Just sell us the Micellar water, please. And while they are at it, if you really need a facial wipe, just reach for their Jojoba Oil instead. It does a way better job of makeup removal.
Would I repurchase? Nope for either.

Trader Joe's Lip Mask
Multiple varieties and all of them are solid. So if you lips are parched, skip over the lip balms and go straight to the lip masks. Do not pass go.
Varieties offered are the seasonal Watermelon, Gummy Bear, and the Vanilla.
Would I repurchase? Yes, give us more.

Trader Joe's Masks
Masks show up in all different varieties, from single-use sheet masks to apply-it-yourself hydration in a jar. Other than being underwhelmed by the pumpkin variety, these have been pretty good overall.
Single-use masks have been the Biocellulose mask, the pumpkin spice mask, and the rich hydrating sheet mask.
Masks in a jar have been pumpkin and watermelon.
Would I repurchase? Yes, we expect more in this department for self-care.

Trader Joe's Moisturizers
Be it the seasonal honey hydration or the gel moisturizer or even the eye moisturizer you are in good hands here. All deliver reasonably good results and a more than reasonable price point.
Would I repurchase? Hell yeah. I'm actually disappointed the honey hydration hasn't been made year-round.

Trader Joe's Miscellaneous & Honorable Mentions
The packaging on these skincare products may not be beautiful, but the price is right, and the results are decent as promised.
So here's to:
- Trader Joe's Hyaluronic Moisture Boost Serum- (use on hair or face to keep hydration in)
- Trader Joe's Lemongrass Coconut Body Oil- Smells just as good as it hydrates
- Trader Joe's Argan Oil- Perfect for hydrating hair, face, and body from a single bottle
- Trader Joe's Antioxidant Facial Serum- It won't make you look 20 years younger, but it does feel and smell nice.
- Trader Joe's All in One Facial Cleanser- Decent-sized bottle, good price point, just a nondescript package that will take away the day so to speak.
Would I repurchase? This is a mixed bag, but I can say I've repurchased a bunch of these since originally reviewing them.
Frequently Asked Questions about Trader Joe's Beauty Products
Yes, they are. No animal testing here.
Trader Joe’s doesn’t lean hard into the “clean beauty” label, but many of their products are free of parabens, sulfates, and synthetic fragrances. Always read the label.
Yup. Even opened. If it made your skin cry, take it back. They won’t judge you.
Final Thoughts
Trader Joe’s beauty aisle isn’t huge, but it’s got some gems, especially for the price. You won’t find high-tech serums or 12-step routines here. However, if you're looking for solid basics with fun scents and a few surprise hits, it’s worth a look.
