The pros: Â Trader Joe's Chocolate Chip Sandwich Cookies are a tasty cookie that might remind you of a cookie from a different brand.
The cons: Â High in saturated fat for one servings, but then again these aren't diet food. Room for improvement on the chocolate filling. Plastic packaging didn't seem to keep my cookies in place.
The verdict: Â For $3.99 you are getting a half pound box of sandwich cookies. The half pound box contains about 18 sandwich cookies. I purchased these because I was hungry and they were nicely placed on the self by the register. Needless to say, they ended up in my basket at the last minute. Also, I have a tough week at work with the kid testing this week, so sometimes having a snack can be the best thing.
My first bite into these instantly reminded me of a Milano cookie in taste. The cookie darker in color than most chocolate chip cookies. Also, Milano cookies do not have chocolate chips in them, but the concept it relatively similar. Two thin cookies with chocolate in the middle. Obviously, the goal of the crisp texture was to keep these from falling apart with the addition of chocolate. Both cookies are extremely thin. The sandwich cookie was no wider than a double stuff Oreo.
As individual parts, they are just ok. The filling isn't particularly special. I think there was room here to add some nice dark chocolate, but sad to say that isn't the case here. It's just cocoa powder and a bunch of other filler ingredients. The cookie itself is also just ok. Surprisingly, these two mediocre items actually make for a nice cookie when combined. The cookie is crisp and it does not contain a lot of chocolate chips like Trader Joe's Way More Chocolate Chip Cookies. The chocolate chips are there to remind you of the type of cookie you are eating. Overall, as an adult I enjoyed them. As for some lucky members of my class, they enjoyed them too. They are middle schoolers and believe me, if they don't like something, they are very happy to tell you.
I also made it a point to give these the "dunk test." I'm happy to report they respond well to milk and for the most part held up well to being dunked if that is a product concern. I know Trader Joe's does sell Dunkers, but just know these will hold their shape and (mostly) stay together.

Would I buy this again? Â Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Chocolate Chip Sandwich Cookies again. I brought this into one of my classes to share. The reviews were very positive by the kids.
