The pros: Trader Joe’s Chocolate Liqueur Cherries are tasty chocolate covered cherries that you’ll need to present an ID to purchase. No fondant in the middle but strong alcoholic taste on the back end of eating these. Generous package size.
The cons: Probably not appropriate to have at the workplace because of the alcohol content. You will also need ID to purchase these. Once I purchased one box and I fully regretted not purchasing a few extra.
The verdict: So yummy and so many for the money. For $5.99 you get 33 chocolate covered cherries. These would make a great holiday gift or an after 5PM treat. Worth a look for your over 21 stocking stuffers also. Have your ID ready when you buy these at Trader Joe’s. The dark chocolate on these was delicious, but the star here is the filling. While these are not quite as alcoholic as Trader Joe’s Brandy Beans, these should be saved for when you are positive you won’t be driving. These are different from the ones you might pick up on the grocery store shelf as they are missing that big glob of fondant. To be honest, I didn’t miss it. The fondant is just an extra level of sweetness. These are just sweet enough. These are seasonal, so if you like them, stock up.

What you get unwrapped:
I looked forward to eating these. Probably a little too much. These would make a good gift for someone or a nice hostess gift (assuming they appreciate a good drink or at least a little bit of an alcoholic kick). They chocolate is of good quality, the cherries and the juice are very good. The alcohol only hits you later in the whole sensory process. I ate one and said to myself “Why did I need ID for this?” By the time I thought that thought, I had answered my own question. I highly recommend this if you enjoy chocolate and alcohol together in a small dessert portion.
