The pros: Trader Joe's Chocolate Pecan Pie Bar is a solid option in the baked good aisle. It's a reasonable sized dessert if you are having company.

The cons: Like most Pecan Pies, this one does not shy away from the calories. However, one serving is quite a generous size. Would be better if this had some bourbon flavoring to it.

The verdict:  I'm sure that if I were to ask what products readers miss from Trader Joe's, I'm sure I will get a tremendous list of products. Some times things even disappear from shelves and reappear some time later. For me, this year I missed Trader Joe's Pecan Pie Filling in a Jar.  There was something so quick and easy about it.

Maybe I'll see that return in a few years. I do have one jar left on my shelves. But I'm saving it for a special occasion. In the meanwhile, this pecan pie will have to do. Compared to going to a bakery, $6.99 is a reasonable price. While the box thinks there are four servings, I would think most people could easily get six or so servings out of this.

Like most other pecan pies, this is a very sweet pie. There is a good ratio between the shell and the filling. The shell is light and flaky. It's pretty neutral in taste as the filling takes center stage.

The filling is sweet and chocolatey. There are oodles of pecans in each bite. It manages to be rich and buttery all at the same time. The only thing I felt it was missing was a good splash of bourbon in the filling. Otherwise, this is a reliable dessert option. It's got tons of sugar in it, so if you are watching your sweet intake consider yourself warned.

Would I buy this again? Yes, I would buy Trader Joe's Chocolate Pecan Pie Bar again. No way is this going to make my weekly list, but for this time of year when I do have company it was a really nice dessert to put on the table.

Have been wondering about this - thanks for the scoop. Made the Blondie Brownie today and just had some with some ice cream for dessert. Yummy!

Wonder how does the almond danish pastry tastes like? Will you do a review on that?

Hey Alek! I haven't yet. But I do take requests 🙂 . The almond pastry that I did do is O&H Almond Kringle and is only seasonally available at Trader Joe's. Here was the review: https://www.becomebetty.com/trader-joes-almond-danish-kringle/
